I have a level 57 Gnome Rogue, unmodified skills of Tinkering 258, Blacksmithing 182, and Tailoring 108. I bought all the books that I can see from the PoK Historians. When I open my tool kit and search for recipies, I can see Blessed, Revered, and Sacred Symbol recipies. I can also see the Simple, Ornate, and intricate Metalofiber recipies. What I cannot see is any of the smithing recipies, the Servolinked or Autoactuated recipies. I have gone back and bought all the books, and still have not learned them. I was making Intricate Servolinked armor before the patch, under the old system. Maybe I am missing some simple, or maybe it is something else entirely. Thanks in advance for any assistance. :>

Tinkering the new Cultural Armor

To start, there's another thread below where Ngreth apologizes a bit for tinkering getting a bit of a short stick with the cultural changes.
First off, you'll need to pick up a Deluxe Toolkit to see the other Intricate recipes. There are a couple of gnomes in PoK that will sell you one.
For the new cultural, you'll need to smith or tailor a template. There is no tinkering option for templates. These templates can then be made into completed armor in the toolbox.
Problem is that you need to scribe the recipe book in order to make the template, and the merchants will only allow you to buy books based on your current skill level. So the merchants will sell you a tinkering book at 258 that will let you make plate/chain with rhenium, but your smithing at 182 will be restricted to the fulginate templates -- two tiers lower and well below your tinkering skill.
You are able to make symbols with tinkering without a smithing or tailoring base, but the loam component is a big bottleneck. I've got probably 40 rhenium ores in the bank but have only ever found 3 bonded loams so far.
So your options are:
1. Skill up smithing or tailoring to 250+
2. Find a friend or other supply of templates
3. Just make symbols
4. Make elemental cams or other old recipes
Hope this helps.

Simplicity is the answer. I had been trying to get the recipies from a collapsed toolkit, with only 8 slots. So I would not be able to see any 9 or 10 item combines, with the metal armor combines having 9 items each. I do have my main enchanter that can make the Templates for both smithing and tailoring. I thank you for showing me that one can overlook one simple thing and be all flabbergasted about it. Have fun out there and make many mechnical thingys. :>
