  • The Foolishness of Ambleshift

From new book sold by a cultural tinkering historian in multiple zones.
The Foolishness of Ambleshift By Ferlinsprocket Geerlok

Ambleshift seemed to think much of himself, but he missed some of the simplest principles.
I think he was the one lacking in skill.

Look at all of the expensive metals and parts wasted on chronal and discordant stones. You
can replace all of the high quality steel blocks with simple high quality ore, and replace
the difficult to find clockwork gnome bolts with simple common gnome bolts. The amalgamator
made from this works just find on chronal and discordant stone, though it will fail to work
    on anything of greater power.

Additionally I have found that you can make amalgamators that work on even greater power
items. You will need to go back to using clockwork gnome bolts, but a new type of metal will
enhance the amalgamator and allow it to channel greater amounts of power.
Take the recipes for making a small brick of high quality steel, and replace one of the
gnomish heat sources with a bar of gold. The gold alllows the steel to melt at a lower
level, requiring less heat. At the same time, it allows more power to course through the
device while it is being made. Similarly you can replace three of the heat sources with gold
bars when you work on making large bricks. At the same time when you try to make small
pieces of this steel into larger pieces you will be able to use one less gnomish heat
    source.

This new steel will make for a more powerful amalgamator. For one that can handle even more
power, you will need to use opal instead of gold. Crush the opal into the ore as you are
smelting it. Since much of the power that is being channeled while the amalgamator is
working is magical, this gem works better at channeling the power than gold.

I have confirmed the lower level recipes substitute Large Brick of High Quality Ore for the Block of High Quality Steel in the small, medium (no size modifier in name) and large plates. Note that this not only reduces the cost but dramatically cuts the total number of combines required. I could easily see these going in bazaar for somewhere between 30k and 50k (still need all the drops other than Clockwork Gnome Bolts).

Making Large Brick of Golden High Quality Steel and Large Bricks of Opal High Quality Steel and then converting those into blocks are exactly as described in the book. Then substitute the new blocks into the small, medium and large plates.

I have also confirmed that the new High Quality Ore Plates (small, medium and large) work to make Poxysmit's Basic Amalgamator Cover, Poxysmit's Basic Amalgamator Frame, Poxysmit's Basic Gearbox Casing and Poxysmit's Basic Gearbox Top. The hinges and latch used for the basic cover are the same ones from the standard AAAA recipes.

I haven't completed any of the new AAAA because don't have any Glowstones or Glowstone Powder on hand for the new Ambleshift's Display Front Panels.

I will post detailed recipes on the SoF submission forum as soon as I have time unless someone beats me to it, it is getting to late tonight.

The existence of both Golden and Opal versions of the new AAAA recipes suggests there are not one, but two new levels of raid augs in SoF.

With any luck, the raid drops to go with the Golden AAAA will come from Demiplane level encounters and offer similar stats to Last Blood but with improved Foci. More likely, they will be from AG/FC raid level encounters and give significant boosts to stats, effects and foci over Last Blood.

Presumably, the raid drops to go with the Opal AAAA will be from top-end SoF encounters and go with the level 80 cultural armor and symbols to provide comparable stats, effects and foci to the drops from those encounters.

        Actually 3...

Golden is TSS and TBS (and those drop there) Opal is SoF

Unfortunately, neither the AGAA nor the AOAA can be converted into a token by Caerlyna in The Bazaar. I assume the ABAA is the same but I can't confirm that.

I'm glad someone finally figured out the lower one! Hehe that one was driving me nuts and I thought I'd tried all the possible ores....

I completed an AGAA last night and most of the smithed subcombines for an AOAA, all of which I posted in Database Submissions. You guys can help the database minions here a lot if you will take the time to note things down, and post them there! It's no good saying "just substitute [blank] for [blank]" but please take the time to enter the whole recipe, plus trivs, plus stat data as any or all MAY have changed and not be consistent through the whole series.

Anyway, thanks for saving my hair.

Unfortunately I am stuck on the basic amalgamator.

I tried making a Scrindite's Basic Mechanoinstruction Reader by substituting Poxysmit's Basic Gearbox Casing for the Poxysmit's Gearbox Casing in normal reader, but got DNC.

Then per reports on the Golden and Opal AAAAs I tried just using a standard mechanoinstruction reader in the final basic AAAA combine and also got DNC.

Thanks Roanne for finishing this. For some reason, I got stuck in a rut trying to use Gnomish Bolts or Clockwork Gnome Bolts instead of the Small Clockwork Screws in the final recipe.

I can confirm that the ABAA, like the AGAA and AOAA, is not tokenizable at this time.

No problem. Was just a matter of following the template. I spent forever hung up on using Block of High Quality Ore instead of Large Brick of High Quality Ore in place of Block of Steel as well.

Searched, but couldn't find what the Basic Automated Amalgamator is for? Does it replace the old AAAA?

The ABAA is used for Chronal and Discordant seals. The AAAA is used for Bazu and Last Bloods. The AGAA is for Serpents and Sunshards. The AOAA is for Faycite.

Thank you so much Kyros, I saw that the Bazus still used the AAAA, but didn't think to check the Chronal and Discordant!
