  • Silver Conduit Combine success rate

Has anybody else noticed an abysmal success rate with silver conduit combines with tinkering. I just had the 3rd combine run with 50 clicks (cap) that wielded no skill up what so ever (skill 295 here).

Just a bad run, everyone has them. Just hope you break it soon, vice going another 300 or 800 + more combines until you get one. Besides, just think of it as making subcombines for another run (whatever you are going to use he conduits for).

As I have posted elsewhere, Skill ups on Silver Conduit after 290 takes a hit. No statistical evidence, but I was averaging 50 combines per skill up after 290 versus an average of 1 in 25 or so before 290. I just talked to someone yesterday who burned through 473 Sunshard Ore for 18 skill ups from 270 or so. Personally I have never attempted any less than 100 combines at a time, others might prefer to do much smaller runs.

There are other options afer 290 which IMO have better skill up success rates including cultural armor and symbols.

Anyone still thinking Sunshard Ore is "the answer" has a million+ plat in the bank and no first hand experience. Think of it more as one of the many answers or you will go broke.

For tinkering, sunshard ore was just trophy skill ups to get my hovering contraption. But the tailoring combines I did with those conduits got me from 288 to 300 from 400 ore. That is just about right on the money for the expected number of combines. However, the first 200 ore only got me 2 combines, the last 200 got me 10. There is no insidious negative skill up modifer attached to sunshard combines, its just the RNG being, well, random. That said, yes cultural has a skill up modifier, so it can be a better choice, depending on yttrium price and quantity available on your server. If you are looking at paying 600 net for sunshard combines vs 2k net for yttrium combines, stick to the sunshard it will be cheaper in the end.

But Yttrium is also easier to farm than Sunshard Ore. It's a give and take. It also costs almost 500pp just for the pure silver ingot. The sellback (given you don't fail) however makes the path smooth out a bit in cost.

            Sunshard Ore-Yttrium

I prefer SSO because I get one potential skillup/ore compared to 1/3 with Yttrium, and stangely nobody buys Gnomish chainarmor. But I have friends who skill upon their tailorin + smithing on my conduit caps, and we share the cost, and sometimes sell helmets in the bazaar.

It's not that strange when you think about it. The only Gnome Chain class is a rogue. I only know of 2 gnome rogues on my servers (that I knew personally), both are well above the age of wearing intricate armor.

I'd say sales on most Intricate armor is rare. I had put a set of this stuff in guild bank, and it stayed in there for months before I took it back out and destroyed to free up the slots.
