For whatever reason they do not want us giving out the true way it works, but what KyrosKrane said is so close it might as well be what happens It gives the jist of it.

Multiple tables, each table checked independently. Like you Order from 1 then from 2 then from 3 analogy.

We did not touch your appetizer choice nor your main dish choice, we just added a desert choice! And along the way we made your stomach bigger so it could hold all of it.

      I like an Ogres mindset....lol.

Now if we could only get a bigger plate( ie Inventory space) to carry it...lol

What makes a man a man? A friend of mine once wondered. Is it his origins? The way he comes to life? I don't think so. It's the choices he makes. Not how he starts things, but how he decides to end them.John Myer~Hellboy 2004

The real formula is released here for your viewing pleasure:

        Table 1:
Clockwork Gnome Bolts: (5% x 1/W x 1/N)Amount of Play time remaining (in seconds)/Played Time (in seconds)
        No Loot: 60%

W = how much you want it (0-100)
N = how much you need it (0-100)

And then there's that bonus chance of actually finding one when you aren't trying to farm at all. I got chased by a named Creep on the way to underfoot so I killed it to prevent train. It had one bolt along with a tribute junk.

I killed a mob the other day and it dropped 11.

But he is abnormal. Go find some old raid mobs that drop spells + gear and you might see a higher number of loots.

It isn't so much what you want or need, it is all about what you cannot use. Part of the engine searches your bank, all your alts' banks and and compares that to your skills in the trades. If you can't use it, there is a 99% chance it will drop.

Since I made Master Arisan I haven't seen anything that can be used in any recipe with a trivial (excuse me, difficulty) greater than 52.
