  • clockwork gnome bolts

Since the creep reapers in corathus seem to have radically shrivelled up as a source for gnome bolts.... They're also a poor source of sun shard pebbles now, atleast that's what I'm told. "If you want sun shard pebbles, there's zones out there with much better drop rates!". I forget which zones were then rattled off.

But, I digress. Them ellusive gnome bolts. They've went from Rare to Scarce in corathus, or atleast, 16 to 20 hours of farming superplated and reapers tells me this. I have yet to try farming creep reaper toilers for bolts.... Mostly so far due to their significantly higher RISK to reward factor.

IS there a location (that you're willing to share the info on) where one CAN farm gnome bolts w/ a higher drop rate than 1 per 2 hours?

    Thanks,

    =)

At least on CT server, I have not noticed any change in either Sunshard pebbles or Gnome Bolts drop rate. Pricing for these items in the bazaar has not changed. AAAA boxes have become slightly rarer since the launch of TBS, but my guess is that manufacturers have either become bored with them or moved onto TBS tradeskills. I farm (or have farmed for me) 30 to 40 gnome bolts per week and no-one is complaining.

As far as alternate sources - some of the CC instanced missions have reeper models, but I doubt whether this would be a viable option for most people and I also doubt whether it would be better than the 10+1 or so in CC. There are easily twice as many super plated gnomeworks than reepers, so if you can stand the faction hit work on the super plated first.

I tend to agree with the OP. Been farming in CC for a couple weeks now and have tons of mechanotablets, assorted gears and shafts, screws, and springs, but haven't seen a single bolt.

But with something else in the table that wasn't there before, could that be adding to the RNG? Or are these on two entirely different tables?

They have new global/zonewide tables now. So sunshard stuff does not compete with anything on the other drop tables.
So it goes something like this now:
              Roll on normal loot table
Roll on zonewide loot table (this is how the hotzone drops work this time around)
              Roll on global loot table

huh, like I've said, have farmed both the super plated and the reapers.

I've asked people I've found there, who've noticed the same lack of gnome bolt drops. The correlation has seemed to be an increase in sunshard pebbles w/ a corresponding drop in gnome bolts.

So far the responses have been mixed, so, dunno.

I will say that I have not spent a solid week there for 14 hours a day for 5 to 7 days lately. Its been a day here, a day there.

Those have always been rare. The perception is just skewed because suddenly there are sunshades... and the sun-shards are more common so they must be interfering.

Sunshards have no effect on the "body" drops as they are on separate tables, and NPC can now hold 22 items not just 8.

I got 3 bolts in an hour of farming only reepers. Didn't know I could kill the other type, as I didn't try since they were indiff to me.

An hour after that, I still only had gotten 3 bolts.

Does not adding to the item list that a mob can drop lessen the probability that a mob will drop other items?

Only if the new item is added to the same table the old drop in question is on, which is not the case here. The sunshard items were added to new global drop tables.

so basically it is like the old Chinese food ordering 1 from coloum a 1 from coloum b and 2 from coloum c??? So we have to face not one but 3 RNG Monsters per and any or all of them may come up blank...Tell me the truth Ngreth you design Games for Casinos.....right?

Think of it this way (all made up numbers, but good enough to get an idea of how it works).

                            Table 1:
                            Clockwork Gnome Bolts: 5%
                            Small Clockwork Screws: 10%
                            Mechanoinstruction Scraps: 15%
                            Tiny Clockwork Screws: 10%
                            No Loot: 60%

                            Table 2:
                            Sunshard Pebble: 40%
                            No loot: 60%

                            Old loot:
                            One entry from table 1

                            New loot:
                            One entry from table 1
                            AND
                            One entry from table 2

The chance to drop the old stuff didn't change. They just added a chance to drop new stuff IN ADDITION to the old.
