I've heard a rumor from a guildmate that this book decays and will be destroyed after 10 combines to make the unfired mold. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If it's true, that really sucks since the quest to get the book is so difficult + time-consuming.

I'm not sure its 10, but I have been told the same thing. I have never verified it, since a friend of mine quested the book out of boredom, and she has let me use hers for all my combines. -
To my knowledge, the DoDH books (specifically Scrindite's) don't wear out. The DoN books (for cultural armor and augs) do wear out after ten uses, and you get a message saying so each time you use those books.Sir KyrosKrane Sylvanblade

Yeah, I did not bother to make it "used up" the scripting is not pretty and uses an additional resource I felt was not necessary... Plus I was new to the job at the time and did not want to get that deep into scripting yet (that waited until the trophies...)
