Mine dropped off of Severan the Direwind Caller.

Heh .... Direwind isn't a mob, its a Zone. Vergalid is a mob but also a zone "Vergalid Mines".

"Direwind" is many things:

• Direwind Cliffs is a zone
• Direwind Current is a mob
• Direwind Gust is a mob
• Direwind Hex is a mob
• Circle of Direwind is a spell
• Direwind Bear is a spell
• Direwind Plague is a spell
• Ring of Direwind is a spell
• Zephyr Direwind is a spell

And it also sounds like a recourse effect triggered by consuming Wild Cabbage.

well... not ALL of the cost is in a part that will be "fail-able" a good chunk of the cost is in the part that is part of the no fail combine (the gears)

And I believe it is lower because it does require that raid drop to make it work... and does not work on the mechanics of it alone.

There is no change in appearance unfotunately. Although I get comments like Where's the spolier? you didn't up grade the rims? What no Sports Package?

I got my Essence of Speed from King Odeen in Valdeholme (raid instance).

Anyone have an idea of what speed the upgrade achieves (relative to existing forms of accelerated movement)? Not that I'll likely ever, EVER see that raid drop...*grumble*

It says on the roboboar itself, "speed equivalent to an ornate chain bridle horse or glowing drum drogmor".

Its the same speed as casino drum, emp/seru horse, and knight aa horse.

A bard with a drum is slightly faster but only by a few % as there is a cap on speed and these all are very close to it.
