Once I found that this was in the game, I wanted to get to tinkering mastery 3 before I even contemplated getting level 75... but instead my guild leader insisted that we grind to 75, so if we finished up our grind section, and I had TM3, but was still only 71... it'd be bad mojo.

But yes, Ngreth, you rock. Has anybody ever considered making you an honorary gnome?

Ngreth- COGS are not cookies- no matter how much tasty gummy stuff the gnomes put on it...it's a trick. They know how you fraid of the dentist and they have soo many new dentistry toys to try out and need volunteers and they think my drinks will put you out...boy will the joke be on them...

So I did the task, and I have tinkering mastery 1 (all I want for now, not much benefit going higher). Can I destroy the other 2 books and do the task later? (he won't give me the task now, but I have the books) Or do I need to bank those books, for a future time when I DO want/need more mastery.

I'd be very interested to know as well... but very uninterested in experimenting for myself :-p Not that I don't think it's worth knowing, I just don't want to destroy my books and then find out "Oh look, you can't get the quest anymore" and be stuck with TM1.

NO!!!

I accidentally destroyed my summoned toolbox after making the books, with them inside of it. I was unable to request the task again, I only got the response "I have nothing for someone of your skill."

I just checked my AA window (which I didn't think of before), and Tinkering mastery is listed on the OOW tab now that I used one book... I don't know if I can train it that way or not (since I am out of AA atm), but someone with AA who has done the quest might check that. If so you should be able to destroy the books.

You cannot normally buy ANY level of this.

they all must be acquired via the books

Tier 2 indicated the cost is 3AA in the AA Window, but in reality it charges you 6 (as it should like all the other mastery aa's).

Thanks you... I fiddled with TS at start (did my own banded/silk armor before kunark ... stopped as it made me broke, then the cultural armor which made me broke again (see the trend?).... ).... discovered it again with pop (earring .... never got the flag for POFire but finished the quest anyway totally broke again ).... discovered again tinkeing with oow (do not ask why... to much money to spend ? POI farming ... ) got taken again with don (new cultural... ouch becames broke again)... go stuck again with PoR ( guess why I stopped farming this f... luclin mob with the +10% smithing hammer) .... Thank you a lot I think I will have to finish 300 everywhere )))) and yes tinkering aa (even if my bot have finally 300 (no more farming yttrium...) ) is really really really nice . (will have to makes again 9aa with my bot think to give tinkering to ogre sk so my main could do it again ? ).

No tinkering for Ogres - it would just make you broke again, besides their fingers are too big for fiddly nuts and bolts.

Thanks to the House ogre from my tinkerbot too, unfortunately she has to level some before she can use.
