Do the Class V upgrade devices require a raid drop or can you just throw in the Roboboar and do the combine?

the final combine (done by the player that wants the roboboar, not necessarily the tinker) needs a raid drop.

*sigh* wish we could have bought the CD version of that expansion but unfortunately in Europe this was not possible
