  • Corking Device

EDIT: The recipe here worked fine in another zone, so I changed the title.

Tonight I tried to combine the following:
    Cogs
    Gears
    Grease
    Branch of Sylvan Oak
    Sprockets
    Blue Diamond

Tried that in both a toolbox and a deluxe toolbox and got DNC messages on both.

I have made corking devices before, but the recipe is missing from my toolbox. Anyone else seeing this problem? Has the recipe changed?

I tried combining Celestial Solvent, a Raw Rough Hide, Rough Hide Solution and a Skinning Knife. But the result was such an oxymoron, it opened a rift into another universe. I fell through into one of Nodyin's spreadsheets and was slain by a misplaced decimal.

Hmmm. Been a couple months since I made one, but the recipe does look correct as listed at http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_...r=035000000000

I would say double & triple check your ingredients (like make sure you are using a branch of sylvan oak, rather than a branch of planar oak), and the sprockets, cogs, grease & gears are all the standard vendor purchased item. There similar items like clockwork gears, and other things around.

Also make sure you are making it on your gnome, as I believe you would get a DNC message as a non-gnomish player.

Perhaps retry the combine outside of the guild hall if you happened to attempt there (or any other instanced zone), Ngreth has stated that at times those zones can give issues with tradeskill containers.

Been a few months for me too, so the person requesting it checked the recipe both places.

The one who handed me the components was a ranger, and my ranger generally has some planar oak on hand for fishing poles. That was enough to make me suspicious, so it was the very first thing I checked, three times. This was definitely Sylvan oak.

He thought there'd been a name change for "cogs", so he actually went and bought cogs from all vendors in reach, including iceclad and PoK. They stacked, which says to me that they're all the same item. I verified the weights, names and tradeskill tags on all items involved against the recipe.

The message is actually different I think.

You can also be sure you're the right race and/or class for recipes if you can open the advanced tradeskill UI. I searched there for the corking device, since I've made it before.

Another good indication is that my gnome always has some gears and sprockets on him. When the customer handed me the components, they stacked with the others I already had.

Regardless, I was on my gnome, with over 220 skill in tinkering and journeyman trophy.

Now that one didn't occur to me. However, my gnome is my last major character without a guild. I tried the combine in the guild LOBBY. I should try it again in some other zones just to rule that out as a factor.

I may also grab or make a collapsible to see if that makes any difference. (I almost tried it in a collapsible tacklebox before I realized the difference.)

More of the same of what everyone said above. Many things have the same icon or similar names, but that is easily avoided by using the recipe in the toolbox (if you have previously learned it) since it only grabs the correct materials (and also indicated which if any are missing, red = not in your inventory, green = in your inventory).

I can also confirm the recipe has worked for me in the last three weeks, if that helps any.

Lobby is fine. The problem that exists is with trade skill containers in instanced zones. The guild hall is an instanced zone.

I haven't tested this yet, but from what Ngreth said there are random issues with tradeskill containers in some zones, on some servers. When this strikes, no tradeskill containers will work in the entire zone.

EDIT: Gate to Nexus fixed it.

There was a problem last week, during their "no downtime" update, something went wrong, and tradeskills went wonky in many zones.

So... late last week, they did a simple restart of the servers... (no actual patch, just a restart) and viola... tradeskills started working in every zone.

So you may have been hit by that.
