How do the collasped containers work? For example if I got a tinker to make me a collasped sewing kit would I be able to replace the one I carry with a weight reducing bag or would I have to leave a slot open in my inventory in order to "unfold" it and do sewing combines.

Collapsed containers are items that can fit in a bag, just like any other item. When you right-click them, it summons the collapsible container. This is just like a bag, so you need a bag slot to place it before you can use it.
The advantage of collapsible items is that can carry several different types of container with you, while only leaving one bag slot free. So, if you need a sewing kit, you click your collapsed sewing kit, make a collapsible one, and use it, then destroy it to get your bag spot back. If you later need a spit, again, you click it, put the collapsible spit in your free bag spot, use it, then destroy it when you're done.
So yes, you do have to keep one bag slot free for the collapsible containers, but it's only one for all of them (unless you want to use more than one at a time, of course). What I usually do is put a clicky item in that top-level slot, and just drop it in a bag when I want to use a collapsible item. If you really need the bag space and have a trophy, you could put a summoned trophy bag in that spot, destroy it when you need the container, then re-summon it later.Sir KyrosKrane Sylvanblade
