The only issue here now is that in order to recharge them you need Infused Dark Matter.
Infused dark matter comes from raw infused dark matter, which is pretty much a rare-ish drop from keyed raid zones (though 2 or 3 keyed non-raid ones also):
Ikkinz, Chambers of Destruction
Inktu'ta, the Unmasked Chapel
Kod'Taz, Broken Trial Grounds
Qvic, Prayer Grounds of Calling
Uqua, The Ocean God Chantry
Yxtta, Pulpit of Exiles

Grouping in Yxxta or KT, does this actually happen anywhere unless people are looking for BiC/Discord Skin Sample/CBQ drops? I'm saying these recharges will be rare to non-existant, making the lev pack of dubious value.

Raw Infused Dark Matter, currently 2 in baz for 300 and 400 p.

Would it be possible (I'm guessing the dark matter recharge was done for a reason, maybe rarity of drop was considered) to allow a recharge with say 4 class 6 mana batteries in addition to or in place of the raw infused dark matter? That would still keep the cost high, but make the recharging much more available and make the item more desirable.

I'd say that the infused dark matter is better than 4 batteries would be. However, any way you look at it, this was designed as another simple gnomish curio, and it will never be a valuable or commonplace item.

It could be recharged with an item that isn't rare, or that doesn't cost like 400pp.

One raw infused dark matter = five class 6 mana batteries. You don't often seen them for less than 300 platinum because other tinkers are buying them up and making a profit selling batteries in the bazaar.

Aren't 4 batteries (vendor sold) a bit less rare than infused dark matter?

Yes, but that isn't currently in game. Even if it was, thats a 420pp cost for 20 charges of Levitate. Who would want it at that price? Not to mention having to carry a toolkit/toolbox and a stack of batteries. The full stack of batteries would also only provide 100 charges given 4 batteries per combine. Not very worthwhile IMO.

It was more a matter of using the same thing that was part of the recipe.

I can consider a change though. I will not promise anything though, and it is not likely to make the patch on 3/14.

Gnomish Vanishing Device - 10 charges - 2 infused dark matters
5 charges - 1 class 5 mana battery

Anizok's Minimizing Device - 10 charges - 1 class 6 mana battery

Flotation Pack - 20 charges - 1 infused dark matter

Honestly I don't think it's as out of whack as you think.
Perhaps adding a lower charge by mana battery would get the effect you desire.
