  • Leveling the new Trophy to final level

So has anyone started leveling their trophy to level 7 yet? I'm wondering how long it will take. I'm hoping we have one of the easier to level trophies, since none of our combines can be store bought or easily farmed.

From what it appears, they are all set to go from 6 to 7 in 800-1200 combines. I haven't seen or heard anything implying it may be easier in some tradeskills, including Ngreth's explaination of the formula.

what i meant is that I hope we are more on the 800 side of the scale than the 1200 side. Tradeskills which are more or less storebought are the ones which will take the most combines, while farmed skills will take less. I'm hoping they will consider tinkering farmed, and not storebought.

Over the weekend I am hoping to sit down and pound out some AAAAs. Assuming the sub-combines are good to me, I should have enough stuff for 10 final combines.....yes, I have that many bolts.

I'll post my skill up % once I get through them all.

Read Ngreth's post explaining how the system works here if interested.

          Nutshell section of interest:

The difference between 800 and 1200 is simply the trivial level of the combines.

So, if you pump out a ton of cultural Observer and Shadowwalker armors (302 trivial), you are looking at close to 1200 combines. If you, in turn, do a lot of combines for the parts of the AAAA (display panel, reader, and 3 gearboxes, all 351 trivial - truncated to 350 trivial for purposes of the evolving trophy) then you are looking at achieving progression in a mere 800 or so combines.

Anyway you look at it, we are pretty much screwed. I'm not expecting to get my trophy to level 7, ever.

No, they really do require different numbers of combines for different tradeskills. Fletching, for example, takes only 500 successes of a 335 trivial to max. Baking and brewing, on the other hand, take about 1000. You may not find a post from Ngreth about this, but he did explain this on the beta boards, and there are posts from beta players that explain it.

216 Tinkering currently, I just did 5 combines.

4x crab crackers & 1 wok. All were successful and gave me 1% toward the next step for my current lev4 spanner(trophy).

The range is 400 to 1000 350 trivial combines.
I based it on how difficult it is to get components to make post 300 combines. If there was a vendor bought path, I set it at the 1000. If the drops are a PITA to get (such as Tailoring) I set it at 400.

                  Thanks for the info Ngreth.

I assume ours is close to Tailoring, but its still going to suck trying to get 400-500 combines of that level. Even worse considering that the Master level DoN maxxes out at 304 trivial, and cultural maxxes out at 302 trivial.
In fact, the ONLY things we can make above that 304 trivial are GM DoN armors (in case we have the chance to farm stacks and stacks of MDS), Seals (my guild isn't raiding in DoD, so I'm not sure what the likelyhood of farming stacks and stacks of stuff to make the seals is), and the parts for the AAAA.
Can't imagine I'll ever see the 7th level given the difficulty of getting that kind of stuff.

                    AAAA route

So far I have made apx 25 aaaa's since getting the trophy for being a 300 tinkerer. Using this method I got 1% every 6 or 7 combines. As you all know each aaaa carries 5 combines of 351 trivial items. Not sure if for exmple making a Wok with the 302 trivial you would get that same rate but i expect around 650 combines will do it.

After 9 successful combines of Master's Servolinked Cuirass, at a trivial of 304, Trophy went to 1%. Did 9 more successful combines and it went to 2%.

If you leveled it solely through Master armor, it appears it would take 900 combines (900x3 Yttrium bricks=2700 bricks). Yuck !

Saving up some Bazu steel to see what kind of rate I get from a stack of them...

That was my point, the 400-1000 is based on 350 trivial combines, if we are forced to do all 302 and 304 trivial combines, it going to be a LOT more.

After making a couple AAAAs, it looks like 6 successful combines equals 1%. That puts tinkering at the "600 combines" for trivial combines 351+ to level the trophy to lvl 7.

Considering the drop rates on the combines that are 351+ (and 300+ in general), I would have guessed tinkering would have been closer to the tailoring (400 combines) level.

                            ahhh well... 94% to go
