I'm working on my trophy for expert tinkering (250-299 range), and have the task to create clockwork watchman gauntlets. The database says that I need living granite which drops off a geonid shaman. Any hints or tips for hunting these would be appreciated. Admittedly, I have not gone out there yet to hunt them yet, since I had been focusing on the blasted stone bean that I needed for brewing. I put this one on my 'to do' list for this upcoming weekend.

No real trick here. The Geonid caves are well marked on most maps. Just go in and start killing, if one nuke won't kill them, just root them before nuking. Frankly, you could probably just tank them with the proc hammer. I'd just avoid the named room altogether. Its hard to pull because of the spacing of the mobs, and the named is annoying. There are plenty of mobs to kill in there while staying clear of that room anyway. -
Took me about 5 actual shaman to get one to drop, ended up clearing the entire cave of geonids (including the named) and it dropped on the respawn in the named room. Only one I really had to heal my pet on was the named.Master Tinkerer Nilbus Oberlovyn

Initially I was a bit worried about this part of the quest, but I worried unnecessarily. In about an hour of soloing with my cleric, I came away with 2 living granite, 4 tar goo, and 15 crystallized sulfur in addition to quite a few research components.Last edited by Mystic Lioness; 03-06-2006, 12:55 PM.

Ah yes, the drop rate of crystallized sulfur is HUGE in WL.
I just wish there were more tar goos, I've been farming them to skill up on Observer Bracers lately since I'm sick and tired of yttrium farming, and it takes one goo as opposed to 3 yttrium at 290+.Comment
