  • Servolink, am I missing something?

So I just got back from a vacation to find out my 250s mean nothing now...and preparing my route to 300.

Looking at tinkering, I see servolink armor as a viable option in the 280+ range. What I don't understand is that it seems to me based on the quest description in Allakhazams, each Book you quest for gives you a maximum of 10 uses, which supplies 20 molds?

So in my basic calculations this gives a total of 200 combines, and then you have to re-do the quest? Am I getting this right?

The yield on the molds is 20 for each armor piece (and forty for the wrists.) You'd get a total of 1600 molds by the time the book wears out, and I believe the molds stack to 200 now. Of course, not all of them will be useful for high-end tradeskills, since only the leg, chest, and arm pieces trivial over 280.

Since all tiers of the armor use the same quest book, it effort it takes to acquire another one is negligible.

If it takes you more than a half an hour at level 20 to complete the quest for your armor pattern book then you are doing something wrong.

half our at level 20 to do this?

        Task Details
        Skyfire Mountains: Kill 80 wurms
Skyfire Mountains: Loot 40 Wurm Meat
Ak'Anon: Deliver 4 Wurm Meat to Vidi Cogsworthy
Skyfire Mountains: Kill 5 skyfire drakes
Skyfire Mountains: Loot 1 Skyash Bile
Ak'Anon: Deliver 1 Skyash Bile to Vidi Cogsworthy

don't get me wrong, its not a big deal for me, but no level 20 is going to be doing this.

Wrong quest... thats for symbols not armor.

The quest for armor book is the basic non-task noob level one.

All ranks of armor use the same patterns.

Gnomes need to collect Zombie Skin, Darkbone Marrow, Crushbone Battle Beads, and Preserved Orc Hide. Just hand them to Cogsworthy... its an old style quest not a task.

Zombie Skin and Darkbone Marrow are tradeable and the other 2 drop in Crushbone.

Many many many people get it in their heads that they have to do the master's level task for master's level armor... perhaps the writeups for these quests need to be clarified.

I thought this was the case at 1 time as well, but was set straight. Just need the 4 items that Q said, and give them to Vidi.

If you want to you can even farm extra parts for multiple armor pattern books (the low-level quest) -- they're not lore. I quested 4 books in one shot, although two will probably be plenty.

When I skilled up tailoring and smithing as woodelf, I gathered items for 2 books, turned both sets in, then made in book into patterns / molds and destroyed the ones I didn't need.. like wrist / glove / legs. Or if you know that you will be making more than 200 sleeves anyway you can just keep that one stack of 200 patterns and destroy the rest.

The main point tho is if you make one set of patterns, you better make all 10 sets. The patterns stack up to 200 (wrist 400) so you don't have to keep the book in bank.
