Fantastic info!! I wonder if there is a spot in the database for this kind of information?

Nice info. Been spending a lot of time here myself recently farming stuff for poison, research & tinkering. Mostly solo, but have dragged either my cleric around a couple of times (extra storage space helps) or a necro friend needing the hinge for epic.

        Ummm...something doesn't add up

Just looking at these two items below:

        Golden Ember Powder 71.2%
        Saltpeter 54.1%

        TOTAL % 125.3%

Logically, if saltpeter drops 54% of the time, everything else together can only drop up to 46% of the time.

Think you might need to recalculate, as all of your percentages added together should in the end be close to, but no greater than, 100%

That is true only if assuming that only 1 thing can drop off each mob.

          Not so.

A lot of the times, mob drops 2 Golden Ember Powder and 2 Saltpeters. Once in a while you see 2 coiled springs or 2 cohesion gems drops. That must effect how the %ages read =)

              Hmm, that's possible, I guess

I have also seen up to 4 saltpeters drop from a single mob. Golden Ember Powder usually drops in 2's.

My guess is that there is two formulas, one that determines how many items the mob has on it and the other determines what those items are. Something like:

                  10% nothing
                  40% one item
                  35% two items
                  10% three items
                  5% four items

Then the next formula would fill in what that item was.

                  30% golden ember powder
                  20% saltpeter
                  etc...

The information provided obviously is a combination of the two results and could probably be reverse engineered by someone good at statistics...but not me.

Edited for: Note that each mob name has a different set of both formulas and drops and grouped data like this is awesome for understanding what you are going to get clearing the zone, but not necessarily what you get when killing one mob.

Rawkett is correct. There are multiple drops per mob. The percentages the number of drops in relation to the total number of mobs killed. So yes, one mob will typically drop 2 saltpeters and two golden embers. I have the breakdown by mob type too, but thought it might be a bit much for a post here. If interested I will find a way to make it look nice.

I wrote a loot macro that turns on the log, says **** Looting %t **** and loots the targeted mob. A second macro turns off the log to cut down on the log's filesize. I then wrote a simple app to parse the data to an excel spreadsheet. Yeah, was bored one day...

Much easier than trying to keep track on a piece of paper and recording it that way like I was doing. I can give you my info for the 20 I kept track of after getting sick of doing it that way. LOL.

Would be nice if Saltpeter and Golden Ember Powder rates were switched.

Gonna do one of these for the creep reaper camp? I'd like to see how the numbers compare (though I got money on CC > PoI)

I agree. Switch them with Coiled Springs, Clockwork Carpace, Knuckle Joints, and Steel Ball Bearings

Biggest issue beside the skillup items is the droprate on innovative clockwork gears atm.
Seems like the droprate is unchanged but they keep adding reciepes that use those which means their price have skyrocketed in the bazaar if they are for sale at all.
I needed them the other day so took a trip to inno, a full round in there gave 2 gears, and the time before I went there I got one....
