  • Tinking Mastery

How come there is not an AA for Tinkering Mastery? Is this the case with all the race/class specific tradeskills such as Alchemy, Poisonmaking, and Research, etc?

Is there any plans for these type AA's to be implemented in the future?

Just wondering if anybody has inquired about this or heard any infor.

    Thanks,

There is no AA for tinkering Mastery because there is currently no way to implement AAs by race, only by class. From what I've been told, I don't think they are trying to implement one, as they don't seem to think its that important.

Some in-depth discussion on just this topic on this thread on the EQLive forums. One of the more interesting things mentioned was the potential social repercussions of implementing this, not just a coding aspect. How long might it be before Iksar, Vah'shir, Barbarians, etc, sent up the hue and cry "No fair, where is MY racial AA?"

I forget if it was here or somewhere else, but somebody made mention that the tinkering mastery aa could be made gamewide, but it just works slightly different for non-gnomes... i.e. a dwarf/orge/cat/human/whatever with tinkering mastery 3 could raise tinkering up to 50, tinkering mastery 2 up to 100, and tinkering mastery 3 up to 200 skill, or something along those lines. That way, it would give everybody in the game an aa that gave decent benefits, and it would give us the tinkering mastery we're so badly missing.

I don't think, though I could easily be wrong, that implementing a race specific AA for tinkering mastery would be difficult. We have already seen that they can give special AA lines as the reward for events(ie quests). So, they should be able to implement a race restricted quest/npc hail/single task that grants the AA as a reward. This would be similar to how they setup the DoN cultural NPC quests...except you get an AA instead of a book.

Nah, Scuzz, applies to everyone - dwarves everywhere screaming for their 3rd tier Quaffing Mastery soaking everyone around them in Dwarven Ale, halflings with first tier Table Muscle Mastery scarfing down food from their groupmates packs every 5 minutes. It ain't just the big fellas you gotta watch...

                yep

As Duzter mentioned, there are solutions to be able to implement it. Many quests flag you for the AA's, yet as I see it is the trigger to allow a racial quest allow the buying of a skill path is the only thing missing (we really just can't have Mastery handed to us, the AA's must be spent like any other skill). But of couse we gnomes always get the short end of the stick. To have added Mastery for class skills (research, etc.) and not tinkering is quite a disappointment.

After the addition of DoN recipes and tinkering produces the same quality of other races armors, to me it is a slap in the face to not have Mastery allowed. Sure it can be said that you could always do smithing or tailoring but why should we have to. My only idea of why to really keep it out is that the new augments were planned that far in advance and the did not want the super high trival combines to get any assistance.

I can only hope one day we can get our Mastery ( and that EQ2's horrible rumors that gnome blew up the moon don't have any part of how gnomes are viewed in EQ1).

As far as other races complaining, that is a cop-out. Class based skills are there and tinkering has always been part of EQ. It is not as if they would be changing the rules for one race, yet instead finishing something they allready started.

Ever notice how all the really good Tinkering supplies are on the upper shelves. Either need a Tinkered Ladder (Triv 213), Illusion any tall race, Levitate or stand on another Gmomes shoulders.

I actually think that it would be amusing to allow Ogres to spend AAs on tinkering mastery. Just think of the fun of watching them trying to assemble their bows!

You can be sure that if it was a quick fix you'd probably see it happening. Judging by the fact that it's not in game means making a race specific AAs is currently not possible. I'm betting it would take an entire code change to be able to handle it. It might sound easy, but look at the problem bane arrows are having codewise. Furthermore, every race is going to whine that gnomes got a new AA and they didn't. Then if they do, gnomes are going to complain they got such a crappy AA compared to everyone else. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a Tinkering AA, but I don't think it'll come anytime soon. God only knows how many AAAA combines I've blown...

                            Re

Or they could just put Tinkering mastery on the main page of AAs for everyone..but since only gnomes could tinker..why would anyone else but gnomes take it. Wouldnt really require that much in depth programming work.

Back up your gnomes on this thread guys....

These dodh combines are the worst in EQ to date. The trivials need to come down, and the master aa's need to be added. Then perhaps they would be tolerable.
