Saw that the hole punch is reusable so I'm not all that concerned anymore. I had bad info that it was destroyed too.

I read somewhere here that you removed the pet foci, so kinda curious since I dont have a research container yet. Dropped of a creep creaper btw.9Maybe not in the holepoker, but it will in the AAAA. Will try and remeber to look it up at work.

I used my cultural container (clockwork sewing kit) [i swear i thought this was lore and no drop at the time, maybe it was a lack of bottom level inventory space?, oh well, if I'm losing it just insert any lore result combine] as a skillup path in smithing since it was so easy to do, and being that it was lore allowed me to not have to worry about destroying it over and over and over each combine, as it just got deleted upon success when it was in my inventory already.
Anybody pursuing a similar skillup path will have lots and lots of extra clicks now
Since presumably the original code still exists, how about a compromise:
/duplicateloreitem
It toggles on and off allowing you to duplicate lore items, which are immediately destroyed if you have the lore item on you when you do the combine. By default this is off, and prevents you from making the combine in the first place if you have the lore item on you.Last edited by Xislaben; 10-28-2005, 01:14 PM.

Back in the day when LoY spell research was new and spells like Levitation were selling for big bucks, I lost a copy of Everlasting Breath because it had simply not occured to me that a tradeskill combine would be lore. GM of course refused to refund my components.
Man that cost me some dough. I was very very

The original actual true though was to make it so that valuable items were not accidentally destroyed. It is truly the FIRST reason, and still the main reason the change was made. When we were working on the code change, we did also think about how it would affect certain combines that were being used for skillups, and that it would adversely affect those. We considered this, but decided that making it so valuable items are not destroyed, AND the fact that the few combines being used as skillups were really intended to be one shot or one at a time combines, we went ahead with the change.
It was silly to allow the combine of a lore item that you already have in the first place (not that overall lore items are not a weird idea...but they have their purpose) Just because it was convenient, and not something we would ever even think of even putting a warning on someone's account for, it was an exploit. It was an exploit of a game mechanic to make things easier than they were intended. It was intended that you make that item ONCE then do something with it that makes it go away before you make it again. Realistically it was probably really only intended that you ever make it once period, but our system does not allow for that. Just because there is a code limitation, that was then abused by players to make things easier, does not mean that once we make a change to fix even part of the limitation, that we then add something back to let people go back and do what we were stopping in the first place.
Don't take this as a "Rude Dismissal" but here is where a decision has to be made, and unless I am overruled by one of the people in the company above me, I will not have this changed.
I guess my point is, I do not want people to stop giving ideas, just because sometimes I disagree with the person, or even the community and will not make the requested change. Ideas and suggestions are still good, I just cannot in many cases make the changes. And in some cases, unless overruled, will not make the changes.Last edited by Ngreth Thergn; 10-29-2005, 09:42 AM.Ngreth Thergn

Let me just check something, I might be making a bad assumption. Can a person make and wear several different last blood augments, as long as the focus put on the aug (via a mechanotablet) is different? Or does the fact that the augment starts out as lore block you from even looting an additional last blood stone?
I'd been planning to make myself 2 or 3 last blood augments with various foci. Maybe that won't be possible?Fourchette

I thought that doing the Aid Grimel Quest sub-combines (like Cleansed Breastplate) as a skillup path, however brief, was a pretty well accepted path if you were crazy enough to take all that time running back and forth or have two giggling mages coth you about...
You could make lore combine flags soul bound like keys (and even use the same table maybe) and just not display when you /key, and then have the pre-combine process check to see if the flag already exists. That could be a lot of extra data storage though, depending on the number of lore ts items out there, and of course somebody could delete their lore item on accident rather than intentionally in order to skill up.
It'd be kind of neat to have a bank slot or something of your 10 most recently deleted items, and maybe have some fixed cost to recover them (so it's not used as extra storage) and have them poof after some amount of time out of game or something. Maybe CS would like that too, no more item recovery work for them. I deleted my Ceramic Skull Of Decay once on accident while clearing my inventory of identical looking skulls...
