DoDH - are the manuals really needed?

I did my task for the first book.. screndritewhatever.. and I see that is flagged as a TS item, but are the other manuals necessary as well? The thought of having 4 or 5 more bank slots used up by 'worthless' items and having to quest to get them doesn't make much sense to me.

Can anyone confirm we MUST do these tasks and get the books to make the augs or is the whole point to learn the recepie ( like that quest in pok which gives you the Wok recepie ). I don't see the manuals listed in the combines so it makes me wonder.

I would say hold them until all the books are found and the recipe information is posted. You never know they may be some item that requires the books. At this time however there doesnt seem to be. I made all of the smithing parts from the ambleshifts book. I don't however have a tinker to combine the tinkering parts yet. I got all the recipe information from the dodh updates thread. I don't even have the ambleshift book yet.

Could someone lead me to this book? I would like to see what I can make - already have indicator lights etc...
