  • 236 skill - now what?

I've finally got up to 236 tinkering skill. Finished up tinkering all the geerloks possible (and man do I dislike Gulf of Gunthak now or what). All of the guides I've found are pretty old but they suggest doing collapsed items. Except most of those are already trivial to me. The only one that isn't is the Toolbox and while I could make them and destory them (I'm on the fast track to level up not the make money track) it doesn't seem like a good use of funds, time, or coiled springs. Plus they don't seem to sell well anymore.

Anyone else have a suggestion on what to make now? Guess I could go straight to planar cams. Was hoping to find something to do before those though.

Was just wondering what others are doing at this time

Yeah, Collapsed Toolkits will do you for another 6 points. Then do Anizok's Gauze Press for another 20 points. Then for the next five, you can make Cheirometric Lockpick Devices. Unfortunately, they are Lore, but they have a good Tribute value. After you hit 267 on CMDs, then head into Planar Bow Cams. I'd start gathering ingredients for the cams now.

If you intend on skilling up to 300, or even anything past 262, DO NOT jump straight to planar cams. I repeat, DO NOT do cams until post-262 skill.

I'm sitting at 278 at the moment, and if I could have back the skillups I did from 210-250 on cams, I'd just about sell my soul for them. I've done hundreds and hundreds of cams from 262-278.
The rarity and difficulty obtaining clockwork grease makes them very very difficult. It would be very wise to save all the cam parts you can until after you have finished the easier more plentiful skill up routes.

Collapsed containers are a great skill up path, as are the CLD's if you need the tribute. While farming the coiled springs, you will get carapaces and knuckles you can stockpile for later, and hopefully amass some grease for the future as well.

      Good luck, and good tinkering

I plan on getting tinkering as high as possible. I already have 148 molten ores and nearly 4 stacks of clockwork grease. I have all my friends grouping and exp'ing in POI keep everything for me.

Doing toolboxs is getting tiring lol, and having them be lore isn't any fun either.

        Thanks for the help!

I just hit 242 today on collapsed toolkits and hoping to push on further before the new expansion is released. I've all I need for the lockpicks but the infused raw dark matter. Is there any trick to getting this stuff?

Easier to just buy the mana batteries in PoK. The infused dark matter drops in the higher end GoD zones (KT+ iirc). You can sometimes find it in the bazaar, but usually at prices that are above the cost of just buying the batteries.

Some gnomes are farming Yttrium ore and doing DoN Master armor tinkering. Search for "yttrium" to read some threads on farming it.
