  • Gnome DoN Cultural Question

My Question is this, Does the Gnome Cultural check Skill level against Smithing or Tinkering to make the actual plate Armor?

I have the Omens AA for Smithing but sadly there wasnt any for Tinkering.

No idea. May want to post in main message board, as this gets low traffic

      Rather simple answer for this.

Anything that is combined in a sewing kit is checked against Tailoring, in a forge is checked against Smithnig and a tollbox against tinkering. Just because it's gnome cultural doesn't change those simple rules.

The old clicky armour is made in a toolbox so it checks against tinkering.

New DoN silk armor made in a sewing kit is checked against tailoring.

New DoN chain and plate armour amde in a forge is checked against smithing.

DoN silk, chain or plate armour made using the alternative route with a toolbox are checked against tinkering. This route is a special favour to gnomes to allow for the fact that a lot of us have specialised in tinkering over the other tradeskills since our clockwork armor uses that skill instead of smithing.

So, this means you can make both tailored and smithed stuff, only using the tinkering skill? That seems a little unfair on those that have to skill up twice to make these sorts of things.

Hmm well you make tailored stuff with tailoring and smithed stuff with smithing .... and tinkered stuff with tinkering ...

Ergo: Gnomes must master the different skills like the rest of us!

Er, sort of but not quite.

Gnomes can make our DoN silk and plate armor via tinkering instead of Tailoring and Smithing. It's an alternative set of recipes to get exactly the items..

You do still have to make all the subcombiens via the same tailoring and smithing routes but the final combine can be tinkering using a slight modification to the recipe to include tinkering components.

Symbols however have no alternative route for tinkers, only the armor pieces.

Thanks, I was hoping it was just another route.

Mastering Smithing while expensive was ok, but mastering tinkering is taking a bit longer than I had hoped for.
