To a caster with 252 meditation (51+) it will provide no real benefit. To casters below 50 (232 is meditation cap at 50 if memory serves, been a while) it may have a chance every few levels of giving another mana/tick with the device than without. Warning: the chance is so slight that marketting it with the promise of occasional mana regen would be misleading.

At 252 meditation we gain 19 mana per tick sitting or on a horse. This number probably isn't linear. But let's pretend it is. That means roughly 13.26 meditation per mana. At 232 cap, 5% would give 11.6 meditation. It could cross a threshhold and be enough to give another tick of mana. Or it could cross the threshhold earlier, say at 100 meditation, and when you level and get another 5 points it would stop crossing the threshhold. So it would act like an FT1 item for lowbies every 5 levels and act as FT0 the rest of the levels. It's worth experimenting if anyone has a lower level caster alt.

I never thought to do an Identify on mine, but according to Allakhazam:

Item Lore: This device sooths Gnomes but annoys most others.

Heehee, I love being a Gnome!
