  • Next Generation of Items: Proposal

Greetings. Propose a system for next generation of tinkered items with the future expansion release. As introduction, I am Gunkle yon E-marr who is a tinkerer (220 triv) with spanner in hand. After reading several of Absor’s responses to tinkering ideas, I concur that we have to be selective in item proposals when submitting them, both to avoid a glut in the economy, and usefulness to our customers. Given tinkered items are specialty items and ‘nitch’ trade skill, I recommend a variant system that will be realistic (in the sense of not being too uber) and practical (in the sense that Norrinthians can really use the items). The concept is that upon item creation it becomes a NO DROP in general and can only be traded to a specific class. For instance, if there is a way to make a ‘key ring’ it would make sense that perhaps only bards could use. Likewise, the banker’s box surfaces now and again, and may be limited to another class most likely to engage in cash weight reduction. Another idea is to allow a tinkerer to select one special tinkered item from a list. Once the tinkerer chooses the item it limits the glut challenge. In this case, the list might include the total population on the server that has the ability to construct an item in this category. Submitted for your consideration. Respectfully, Gunkle.

Now THAT is an interesting idea. I don't know about coin weight reduction (since that's normally the province of bags or purses), but why not a gizmo that lets you make change without being at a bank? Call it the Trader's Touchstone. =)

I'd buy one of those for each toon if they were affordable. Make it low in weight itself so that it's practical for monks to carry around, and they'd be quite popular, I think.

This, however, I don't ever see happening. I can only imagine the nightmares in coding something like this, and I don't really see many people WANTING it. First off, it means you can't put it on a trader mule. Second, I'm sure I'm not the only person who browses the bazaar for items for all of my toons whenever I'm there. If I find something I want, it's much easier to just buy it and drop it in a shared bank slot than to switch toons, get the other toon to the bazaar, and buy it, hoping all the while someone else doesn't get it first, and the seller doesn't go off-line.
