Don't see how you can realisticly compress a Brewing Barrel or Forge into your backpack so I don't feel the idea is very appropriate.

Pocket watch and bait maker seem quite nice novelty items that shouldn't cause any problems.

How about a tinkering AA - like all the other tradeskills received- I would gladly spend 18 AA to stop wasting hours and hours hunting haze panthers only to fail the GVD combine

This has been put forward before, it's a fair request but the reply given was that they have no way/resources in putting AAs out by race, just have to put up with it I'm afraid.

I'd like to put in another vote for tinkered INT CASTER armor.

Special silk or hide, tubing, metal wire, vial of whatever mana (or celestial essence), mana battery, and other special items/patterns to make the various types (arms, legs, etc.)

            Another idea?

            Or not.

While the gnomish plasma cannon would be fun, but overpowered, I remember a GM event in Everfrost w/a wayward tinkered heater.

That would be interesting to say the least.

With high marks I see tinkered INT caster armor as a good one,
Tinkered mounts are good but with some drawbacks, What items needed, how will it affect the mounts already in game (economy with the plat being removed from public with bought mounts), what races can use them (I am sure that an ogres mount has to be a little more beafy in regards to a halflings, and with it being made this should reflect that aspect) the battery used in making/ recharging should reflect speed.?.?

The summon fishing bait can be made using
              Base prototype
              Perpetual air pump
              Class 5 mana battery
              Bat wing
              Steel wire
              Meat (lion, bear, wolf ect.)
20 charges of summon bait (1 stack of bait per summon)
To recharge it takes 1 bat wing and one meat (lion, bear wolf, ect.)
              Trivial at 210

We have tailored (gnomish cultural) INT caster armour, so I don't think we are likely to get tinkered INT caster armour.

How about a rocket that you can use as a mount (with lev)?
Probably would need some serious power, but we now have steam pistons.
Could even make it a "one shot" item.

You can avoid effects on the economy by having the components used to make a tinkered mount cost as much (or more) than the price of the store bought mounts.

                    Like the tinkered mount idea

The best idea I have seen is the idea of a tinkered mount. I know it is mostly a toy but it sure would be a fun one.

I also agree that it would have to be somewhat cost prohibitive or perhaps no drop to limit the proliferation of said mounts. I would like to see the mount capable of sow speed mind you. Of course, I imagine it will need batteries to be recharged. But, I would not like to see the components being impossible to obtain.

Is this really a feasible idea though? I cannot really see any other TS being capable of creating a mount as such, but I imagine the mount idea might be a bit too much for other tradeskillers to see given to one racially dependant TS group. It still is a really cool idea though.

Perhaps a top 5 or 10 list could be drafted similar to class representatives are doing?

If I was actually to come up with a recipe for a tinkered mount, it would not use batteries. It would contain a subcomponent called a "Biomass Energy Converter" that would take in food and water to power the mount. That way the good folks over at SOE wont have to do a massive amount of new programming because tinkered mounts, unlike other ones, dont eat food or drink water.

And, of course, I would make it a collapsed tinkered mount, so that one could summon/dismiss it just like a regular one, and fit it, when not in use, in your range slot or a bag, just like a bridle.

                        Ideas

I liked the the bait and coin machines, but I think the horse is too much. Do we really want tinkered cars in EQ? I would like to see perma-lev mounts like pegasi and griffins but I think thats more of a spell thing than tinkered.

Portable Icebox - tinkered bag that allows food and drink to last longer.

Tinkered Augs - Go nuts with this one..

Gnomish Mana Bomb - a device with a couple mana batteries that could either do dd, ae or amplify a caster's spell.

Tinkered Bullhorn - customize an audio file for others to hear for an incoming message or some such thing.

GPS Locator - 1 shot track that just gives a mob's loc.

You disagree with tinkered mounts calling them cars but a Global Positioning Satellite tracker you're ok with? *boggle*
(I'm not in favour of mounts either just so you know)

Track is too much of a class skill, never going to happen.

I wasn't being literal more just trying to think of a lesser version of track. With all the farming we do anything would help.

From the impression I get anything that is already a spell like invis, lev etc is fine, so how about (ducks now) a device that creates a mystical path to your mob...

                              Modular Armor Upgrades

I'd like to see devices as subcombines that get added to the tinkered armor, like the gvd is on the breastplate. That way the int casters can tailor something and tinker it onto their armor.
A charged device that casts 5 charges of dex made from a faun hoof for example.
Being given the ability to tinker that onto, say... acrylia plate would be nice... then upgrade that to cultural status. Make it insanely expensive, higher level restriced, nearly impossible to combine, whatever. A variety of options would be nice.
Ice silk armor, tinkered with a clicky, upgraded to cultural, add an augment. Make it that funky banana yellow newbie color. Slap on a level 60 or 65 restriction or something. 55 would be nice since wasn't that the velious highest level? Also wasn't that the only tradeskilled int caster armor from that expansion?
Gnome only on all that of course, can't have the masses wanting to buy our stuff. Think of how much work that'd be, how crowded wakening lands would get!
Last but not least, more high level roaming giants that have 10-15khps,double or triple for up to 473 hps and path along with the panthers please. Having them pop only once every 30 minutes isn't doing my aa bar much good. /grin

We can fit 200 bear pelts or for that matter 200 casks in a backpack and you cannot accept the concept of a portable still? More to the point, a backpack in EQ can hold far more than we would normally put in a brew barrel for even the most complex recipe. Think about it.

Such comments aside though, keep in mind that a RL still is really a simple device and breaks down into components easily. Frankly I have never understood why this is considered a problem. If heat source is the issue, then we should not be able to use spits for cooking either.

As for forges, again, the forging components fit in packs, so the forge itself should not be an issue other than heat source. For a forge, however, the heat source is presumably much hotter, and not so trivial. Even so, given the large numbers of rather fire resistant nasties in the world, one would think that some sort of viable insulation should be possible....
