  • Random Rambling froms a packrat.

In This Thread , I profiled the myriad of supplies I've been saving for a rainy day, to GM tinkering.

Smalltim, my tinkerman, is around 150ish, and I'm tackling the monumental task of getting 100skillups from here.

508 Steel Ball bearings,393 Coiled Springs, 147 Innovative Gears & 119 Innovative Bolts, 122 Silver tipped Quills, 56 Waterlogged Rigging, and 27 Maneater Roots

I wonder if this will be enough.

Bah, need to go to bed. Will fill in my expected path later.

If you only use what you have so far, I would bet not even close to 250, maybe 200. However, if you do Geerlok's as much as possible until the 200s, I would guess that what you have would get you to 240 minimum, possibly 250.

    Good luck.

Yeah, I was a bit hesitant to assume that this would be enough.

But 508 Steel Ball Bearings, assuming 5% failure, means 480ish Base Prototypes, or (on average) 24 skillups.

393 Coiled Springs will, Karana Willing, be 19-20 Skillups.

120 Innovative Cams, if I can find the grease, will average 6 skillups.

205 LoY geerloks should give 10 skillups.

Assuming the law of 20 combines per skillup, oin average, holds up, This should be good for 60 Skillups. How depressing. :-/

To be honest, I'd skip innovative cams and save your grease for elemental cams. You can find the PoF bricks on merchants all over (or get some yourself if you are elementally enabled) and use them at a higher level of tinkering. Grease is just too rare to waste on innovative cams.

I agree with Chenier. As long as smithing geerloks are available at 215 trivial and acrylia is common on your server, save the grease.

And I say this even though I XPed a lot in PoI with my main, a ranger, I still always wished I had more grease.

Ok, and what do I do with the hundred+ gears and bolts I've vendor mined?

            Sell them back to vendors?

Yup. Or try to resell in the bazaar to some schmuck who doesn't know s/he should be saving his/her grease for elemental cams.

              Personally, I just vendorize mine.

Unless you have like 4 accounts auto-foraging in PoI for two weeks straight, Inno Cams are just not worth it - and you're gonna want the easy elemental cam recipes to finish up. Tartenne now does only elemental cams, crab crackers and woks to skill up. (five freaking more points to go)

Do the shadowhaven faction necklace quest then vendor mine the entirety of Shadowhaven for Sensate Reishi Lenses and Belt of leathery Fungus Flesh.

Then farm all of PoK/bazaar for Porous Minreal Blocks.

Then hit up the vendors in Shadeweavers near the putdoor bank and the easily gotten-to vendors in SharVahl for Darkclaw Claws and Chitterling barbs.

Then hit the vendors in Gunthak for stackable Scorpion Venom Glands, Silver Tipped Quills, Something Rigging and whatever that last thing is that makes the Alchemy Geerloks. (its late, im tired, meh)

These items are DIRT cheap and COMMON as blazes and will get you to 215.

Oh, then instead of trying to compete in the bazaar trying to sell an over-saturated market of Geerloks.. just turn em in for really nice Tribute points.

Also hit the PoT vendors for the carapces that make woks (7p) and Knuckle joints that make crab crackers (1p).

Aye, I already scan vendors for geerlok stuff (old and new), and coiled springs, as well as clockwork carapaces and knuckle joints.

Thanks for the ideas about Shadeweavers and SV.

I know Lilosh will look himself, but an FYI for anyone else, the LoY geerloks go up to 236.

Good luck getting a 16 gonome though the Warrens.

(Yes, I've learned the hard way that's a bad trip, twice).

Vendor mining, that's how I've been getting my geerloks and a lot of coiled springs.

I also buy gears etc.. if anyone is selling them in the bazaar for 6pp or less, and same with coiled springs at 25pp or less (springs usualy go 100-250).

But I'll second the porous minerals, belt of leathery flesh, and reshi lenses are the best way to skillup.

Mine is and gets his butt kicked, even when invis, though the warrens. I have to beg for a port.

Hopefully I'll get inot a guild soon where I'll be able to get ports. (Why oh WHY do they have to be NoDrop?)
