  • Velious tailoring at 182... how insane is it?

I've been sitting at 182 tailoring and driving myself batty and broke on rockhopper hides and acrylia to finish trivialing Acrylia studded....

but I have easily 200 combines worth of the various Velious components (hides, oils and coldain tempers) sitting on my tailoring mule waiting till I have sufficient skill to try them.

Should I keep driving myself nuts on rockhopper hides and acrylia (and solstice robes) and keep holding off on the Velious stuff or should I start buying/farming velium, since I have the rest of the components, and use my stock of Velious components for skill ups, accepting that my failure rate is going to be obscene?

And is there enough of a market for the Velious stuff to make it worth doing pieces other than the one stud/bone combines? If so what, sells? I have panther skins, tigerraptor skins and wyvern hides.

If it matters, I usually skill with 300 wis and 280 dex

I've been able to sell some of the wyvern armor I've made, although the failure rate is absolutely atrocious. I finally decided to simply hold on to my wyvern hides until I hit about 210 and solstice robes start getting too expensive to skill on because of successes. If you can stand doing the rockhopper stuff, then that's not a bad idea either. I have access to a 250 jeweler and can imbue my own emeralds, so doing solstice robes is much easier for me to skill on than rockhopper armor. Still, even after 200, be prepared to have lots of failures.

The skill rate on veliuos leathers won't start going up till you're over 205, and even then it's pretty slow. The successe rate for haze and drake seems a touch worse, but could be from the lower amount of attempts on those i've made.

My suggestion is.. do single stud combines of wyvern and raptor now to skill up on, as the pelts and tannin aren't that hard to come by... assuming you have a guild doing tov (you'll end up with more drake eggs than you have pelts for), and farming velium isn't near as bad as farming hopper hides.

Drake, haze, and black panther armors are a bit more challenging, as either the pelts or tannins are more difficult to get. Succesful combines for those 5pp wyvern and raptor masks won't make or break you, and the sheer number of combines you could potentualy add to your skillup list is well worth it.

I didn't start actually making multi-stud wyvern armor till i hit 230 or so, and you wil be able to make occasional sales of it... buit it's not worth waiting if you're skilling up. At 180 you'll get almost all fails, but the masks are a very good way to skillup.
