Currently at 159 Tailoring skill and currently working on the 8th Shawl. As most of you know, the Soft Fur Padding trivial is 176. I was a little apprehensive about combining those furs knowing they weren't trivial for me yet.

So, I was looking around the site trying to find a way to raise my skill and debating whether or not it was worth it to raise it enough so these fur combines would be trivial. I figured if I failed some, I would just buy the few more I need in the bazaar.

So, I grab a KEI from a nice 'chanter (255 Wis max) and proceed with my 8 combines.

No failures.....and I get 3 skill-ups! Happily sitting at 162 right now....

Lucky ? No..... well at least not as lucky as I was.

They rarely fail if you are even reasonably close. I cannot remember exactly although I think it was 160 - 168 on 13 combines as I made some extra tradeable armour. This was way back before they made tailoring easier. Back when each point on Wu's was like 30 combines minimum.

When I posted about this a long time ago hound furs were still far too expensive to actually use as a skill-up so no-one was willing to try it.

Glad to see someone else had some good luck on them though.

I failed on 6 out of 14 combines of the soft fur padding, starting at a skill of 159. Including 6 combines of other stuff (arctic wyvern mostly) I got 6 skillups to 165 for 20 combines. Tailoring was made much much easier to skillup some time back. That kind of skillup rate seems to be about the norm at this level of tailoring.

I was 158 on those combines failed about 5 times....with geerlok

I collected 10 furs for this quest, failed once, and got 3 skill ups... needless to say, I was a happy camper despite the long, tedious work it had taken to gather those silly furs (Not having track is a real downer for quests like this... sence animals helps, but those darn Ice burrows are animals, too)

I got 4 skillups (158 to 162) on 9 attempts (1 failed)... have 5 extra as hounds tended to aggro while hunting wyverns for the gems (My WL zone is corrupt, and not even reinstalling game has fixed this). Now I am wondering if I should use the rest on attempts to get skillups, or give the furs to the next friend (or alt), that is insane enough to start the shawl quest...
