  • Tailoring 250, skill ups 189-250

Hello. Maxed tailoring last night as my last trade skill. Actual 1750 hype post is in the general area, but I'll post my skill ups here.

I started by making solstice robes

    189 - 3
    190 - 4
    191 - 30
    192 - 19
    193 - 28
    194 - 28
    195 - 19
    196 - 1
    197 - 14
    198 - 60
    199 - 2
    200 - 9
    201 - 21
    202 - 12
    203 - 13
    204 - 13
    205 - 19
    206 - 12
    207 - 11
    208 - 1
    209 - 21
    210 - 38

During this first run I made 378 attempts and succeeded 29 times.

Then the two free points with ethereal stuff:

    211 - 4
    212 - 37

And back to solstice robes. I had a bit worse luck at first:

    213 - 64
    214 - 81
    215 - 31
    216 - 82
    217 - 13
    218 - 44
    219 - 55
    220 - 23
    221 - 25
    222 - 1
    223 - 7
    224 - 13
    225 - 49
    226 - 2
    227 - 43
    228 - 17
    229 - 19
    230 - 19
    231 - 28
    232 - 6
    233 - 54
    234 - 15
    235 - 5
    236 - 13
    237 - 9
    238 - 17
    239 - 6
    240 - 26

Second solstice robe run was 767 attempts of which 188 succeeded. At this point I decided to use 45 flawless hopper hides I had sitting in the bank and made reinforced acrylia masks.

    241 - 40
    242 - 3

I had two hides left when trivialised. =) Then I continued a little with the rest of my solstice robe material:

    243 - 3
    244 - 30

Of these 33 attempts 18 succeeded. I had too many robes at this point sitting on the mules and decided to do the rest with arctic wyvern masks.

    245 - 7
    246 - 28
    247 - 42
    248 - 10
    249 - 11
    250 - 17

115 attempts here and I capped the skill with less effort that I had expected. I had more than a hundred wyvern hides and cod oils remaining in the bank.

    So in total:

1377 attempts for 61 skill ups or 22,57 attempts per skill up. Better than I had expected. Int was 300 sharp during the combines, except during maybe five combines when it was 296 as I had messed with my gear.

I made 235 solstice robes of which I gave one away to a guy whom I had subcontracted to make celestial essence for me. No idea what to do with the rest. Not much market left. Other stuff I made I just sold to vendors.

I had my RL girlfriend's 65 cleric to imbue the emeralds and most of the other stuff I bought or subcontracted. Practically no camping at all. Precombines and getting stuff together took a less than two weeks and I did the whole skill up run during a single day.

Estimated expenses are somewhere between 160 and 180k.

I hope this helps even a little.

        skillups

I am amazed at the data I have seen on this board. I have been going through the aide grimmel quest and have 221+ skills in all tradeskills EXCEPT tailoring. Based on my own experience I average 1 skillup in tailoring every 37 combines. I have seen averages between 7.5 and 20 (on the worst end) by people who reported skillup speeds per combine.

Either you are lying or Necro's have a tradeskill penalty. I always have 150+ agi/dex and 355 INT + KEI (which I dont need for the INT) when ever I do any combines. I average far worse than the boards state for brewing and baking as well. I have been a GM smith for a long time so that is hard to compare... but the BEST skillup point I received in tailoring is 1 point in 27 combines of soltice robes. That is the BEST I have done.

What are you doing to get ratios like this?

Hmm I dont see your tailoring skill so Im gonna assume that Either you have bad RNG karma for some reason or your in the hell levels 180 to 220. All in all for me I averaged between 21 and 23 attempts per skillup. and after 220 was closer to 15 or 16 per skillip average.

I did 30 soltice robe combines last and got 2 skill ups went from 185 to 187. I dont know if it was luck or what, but I was happy.

I don't have the exact break down of my skill ups, but mine have been decent too for using robes.

I went from 188 to 244 on a total of 848 robe combines (avg. 1 every 15.14) I've hated the long runs of them, but I've done quite well, at a cost of only about 70k total. The last 6 points I gave up on for now, since with Geerlok I'm capped. I figure I'll get the last 6 points doing random ele combines

                skill

didnt mention the skill I was 187 when I started robes. 200 combines to 192 skill. soltice robes.

today I did 39 reinforced masks. current skill: 193.

I have been documenting tailoring since 164 when I decided to do aide grimmel quest. I average 1 skillup every 37+ combines. 355 INT, 150+ min on all other stats (200 wis), geerlock device in hand... done this over the past 3 weeks on and off. its consistent. 37+ combines per up.

The interesting part is I know two would-be tailors with 355 int who seem to get awful skill up rates. Mine was 300 when I did it. Most likely it is only bad luck and the statistical sample is way too small to be credible, but...

Planar power and innate enlightenment could actually be bugged and make you less likely to get skill ups. Would not be the first crazy mistake Verant makes. At least my skill up run was so good that getting those aas would have been waste of time for me when trade skills are considered.

I have 355 int and haven't (yet) had this kind of bad luck. I went from 183 to 192 on 164 combines a couple days ago with solstice robes. Before that, i went from 176 to 183 on 82 combines.

                      37 average

I have been tailoring hard core for several months to reach 205.

I am glad the necro posted because I am enjoying the exact same skillup rate he is and averaging 37 combines per skillup on solstice robes since 187.

I didn't keep track until 187, but subjectively I feel that I have slowed down in my skillups ever since I got innate enlightenment around 185. since then my wisdom is 290 when I tailor and skillups seem slower. I hope it is just bad rng or the hell levels and not a bug with innate enlightenment as suggested above=/

                        Ok the question is?

Do the people who are getting the bad skill up rates have AA points dedicated to Intel or Wisdom. Now personnally I think there is a series point of diminishing returns on how Intel or Wisdom effects skill ups and I dont think it matters a whole lot if your 250 or 350.

Um, the results in this very thread are not in that range, they're close to one skillup per 23.

I haven't kept detailed records, but I've been getting around one per 25 during my recent run from 200 to 236. I've been above level 60, but without spending any AAs on stats, so Int ranged from 270 to 280. When tailoring was in the 180s and 190s, though, my combines per skillup were much higher.

I attribute the slow skillup rate to poor RNG kharma. I am afflicted with this as well. After a run of 180+ combines without a skillup, I got 8 skillups in about 130 combines. Now, I am 80+ combines again and stuck. That is the way of the RNG. My skillup rate has been slightly worse than average here, but I am sure that it will come around. That is the best thing about averages. The larger the sample size, the more likely you are to fall around that number. Geez, math is fun.

Anywho, Congrats on 250 AND 1750.
