  • Ethereal Silk Swatches

Just got to 210 the other day. Had been hearing lots about how simple and quick the next two points should be on Ethereal Silk Swatches...how people were always buying/making two or three stacks of curing agent, etc., and ending up getting their two skillups within seven attempts. So I was enthusiastic about trying it -- after the last few points, I could use a couple of quick points.

Two stacks later, no skillups. 39 successes, but no skillups. (Though, if I can sell those at anything near the market rate, I'm not going to complain too much -- even needing to buy my curing agent, these are CHEAP attempts, and the market rate would include a healthy profit...)

On most recipes, two stacks without a skillup would go pretty much unnoticed, but after all I had heard about this recipe...

Do these really have the same skillup behaviour as everything else, and all those stories are from lucky people? Or am I having the ethereal silk swatch equivalent of one of those eight-stack-without-a-skillup runs? (Or, as I'm sure my luckw ould have it, Sony decided that these were too easy sometime last week and you can't get skillups on them any more ) One way or another (unless someone tells me they can't give skillups any more), I'm going to keep doing these, since they're dirt cheap compared to every other option out there, but I'm just wondering....

Intelligence is 265 for all of these attempts, skill at 210 (using geerlok to be able to do the combine).

I found them to be easier to get skill ups. No Hard data though I didn't keep track.

I did then from 192-212 and had both quick skill ups and some where it took a bit to get. As with everything, it changes with the mood of the rng...and the rng is very moody.

At least they are much cheaper and less subcombines that other recipies at that level skill :-)

You could also take the swatches you've made and do some cured ethereal energy combines to try for the skill-ups.

Oooh, I totally hadn't noticed that possibility. Will do that when I get home if the swatches haven't sold. Thanks!

(On that note, anyone know if the cured ethereal energy sell better/worse/as well as the swatches? I'm hoping to make a bit of profit here to help finance the rest of my tailoring habit...)
