Ok I am a halfling tailor wanta be only about 162 atm. I want to make some halfling cultural armor. My problem is after about 40 hours of camping the cave by dalnir zone I have maybe 4 HQ brute hides. Theres got to be a faster way to get these. I honestly hope there not really that rare. Is there somewhere else I should be looking, there was only 1 halfling talior on my server that was 250 and Im not sure even even plays anymore, and there are never any HQ brute hides for sale, I look ALOT.

I have found 2 while vendor mining with my level 26 halfling druid. I don't know what level you are, but I know that the Frontier Mountains offer a LOT of brutes. Perhaps these are within your level range?

First the good news..the brutes in dreadlands drop em too..and often you can convince people xp'ing there to sell them to you. Now the bad news. If you mean the hobbit BD cultural (and i'm guessing you do) I still succeed only 1 in 2 to 1 in 3 at max tailoring.

The Non-BD cultural armor is a decent skillup route.
1) Auction in DL stating a price -- eventually people will save them for you.
2) Do the same in FM.
3) Take all your alts to Dalnir caves for experiencing 24-30.
4) If a druid, bind there and clear the caves before starting your day and after finishing.
Good luck. I mainly avoided Halfling Cultural, and did the standard Acrylia/Velious route. Pretty much gave up on the Luclin Server, since I can't get the planes drops.

I am a lvl 65 halfling druid, in an elemental planes guild with good equipment, and a broke bank account, killing things is no problem. I just need to find brute hides
I think its rather silly that we have to farm both ore, and hides for velious, and luclin tailoring and I refuse to do either, I will make 250 tailoring, but Im not going to spend 6 months farming greens, and taking exp from people who will get exp on those mobs just to make armor you cant give away on my server. Plus Im in a raid guild that raids at least 5-6 nights a week. Although brute hides is ONE thing I will farm if I need to.

So, I guess you really don't want to hear that the hides are *not* the hard part to get for the BD armor?

212 hobbit tailor, and the success rate has been somewhat harsh on the BD stuff. 1 success in 4or5 tries is not out of the question for me.
HQ Brute hide - not too bad.
Acorns for oil - my eyes hurt and I already have THAT root tyvm
Pebbles - no problem.
BDs - a pain because of the precombinee failurs that hit you when you only have enough for one try.Sunburnt Dmize - 80 Druid - D-Ro

Even at 244 with Trophy the success rate on BD cultural is not great. I tried 3 pieces last night and made 1 so do not get your hopes up too high on successes these pieces are over 250 trivial.[/quote]

I know forage of acorn oil is slow, but I spent 2 days in DSP at caves and got maybe 5 flawless hopper hides and another day in scarlet for some ore, and spent 4 hours doing drakes etc in CS and got 3 hides, and another 4 hours in CC for ore. Maybe I just have really bad luck but spending like 4 days and only getting enough stuff for 10 or so combines really turned me off. And since I cant do robes till 250 being a halfling I have 2 choices solice robes, or non BD cultural.
Being a 250 tailor has been my dream for years, and it took me over a year to get to 161 because im not rich, but I dont give up, I am more then open to hear anyones ideas or suggestions.

Tell ya what...since you can kill drakes in CS, I assume you are high enough level for the following:
Go to Western Wastes to kill velium hounds and make soft fur padding (trivials at 172 or so...VH Fur + silver thread). Forage while you are there for Drake and Dragon eggs.
Go to CS and kill Othmir (careful of adds and boy do these suckers run fast). I have had great skillup rate on them. 2 furs + silver thread + cap pattern + vial of clear mana.
Go to Wakening Lands. Kill panthers, haze panthers and Tigeraptors. Forage the Yew leaves while you are there. Haze Panther Eyes will earn you a gnomish girlfriend.
Go to Crystal Caverns. Invis, Levitate, drop down to the bottom and kill all the orcs on the bottom (sell in dwarven town when full). Break down the velium into pieces. Rinse and repeat.
Do not waste your precious acorns on pre-BD armor and do not attempt the BD armor too soon. Make bags before then. That is all I have for you at this time. Will think harder on this.

You say you spent time in Scarlet Desert for ore? I presume you mean acrylia then, and SD is not the place to go for that. You want acrylia, get a group in AC, or kill hte grimlings/aliens in TM. SD is a good place however for hides too. Kill the hoppers there, I pull 1-3 hides of either quality per hour at best of literal nonstop killing. If all you want is to get high enough to make cultral, do a ton of Solstice robes (50pp per fail, under 200 skill = fail city. Considered very cheap) until 200. Post 200 you can do more robes, or you can use the acrylia/velious routes.

Soft fur padding is no drop. Unless you have a decent smithing skill (170 or so), and like to farm geonids in WL or wyverns in WW, you will have to destroy the padding.
Velium Hound fur sells for 700-1000pp on Luclin. That's a lot of components for other things!
My advice is to sell the velium hound fur unless you are going to make Royal Velium Armor (or, maybe trade 3 or 4 to one for other hides).Pinyon Treedotter

I bound myself inside the caves in Warsilk Woods. Whenever dead I could run naked with 1 nuke each kill all 5 mobs there. I'm in a elemental raiding guild so some nights I'd die 7+ times. In over 3 months time I looted 3 HQ Brute Hides
I think they are too rare.

I kept my young shaman here for maybe four levels and in that time he got maybe 4 HQ pelts. They really are too rare.Bittleaye Arkades

My advice
Honestly, as a 65 Druid you're much better off farming other camps or tradeskill supplies and selling them to fund the purchase of tailoring supplies, IMO. If you "earn" 500-1Kpp/hour farming plat/items, you would be able to purchase roughly 6-8 combines (in the bazaar) which seems a better bet than farming all the supplies yourself.
I have adopted the practice of farming for 1-2 costly supply for each recipe and buying the others, simply so that I don't go insane. For example, on Velious combines, I have several good spots to farm Velium and I fish for all my Cod, but I purchase all my Hides and CVTs. This keeps costs reasonable (tho still a little on the high side) but I'm able to accumulate combines much faster with much less frustration. If I start to run low on cash, I typically farm some pp/items from a few camps to prop it up. In the long run, farming all of your own components is going to be MUCH more work.
