  • Please help me dispel or confirm the Dex question...

Does it help? From my own testing it doesn't seem to affect my succeess rate; just last night i did 30 combines with 275 wis and 235 dex...failed quite alot.

Is there any hard info on this rumor?

Thanks, but I read that--- notice that post is 7+ months old. Thought maybe something had changed or been confirmed since then, considering many of my friends swear Dex does help.

This is not much of a significant attempt and dispelling the rumors of whether or not Dex does apply to success rate for Tailoring but it was some information I provided on another message a few weeks ago.

I had a skill of 214 at the time and I was given enough components to make 8 attempts at Fleeting Quivers (Trivial 222). My Wis at the time was 180ish and my Dex was 145+. I succeeded all 8 Fleeting Quivers.

As I said this does not give any significant information regarding the Dex rumor but it gives me thought that Dex really does not have anything to do with Succeeding, it appears that it's just your Skill.

Why won't people take yes for an answer?

Devs have said over...and over...and over...and over...and over that the ONLY, single, solitary, exclusive thing that affects your chance at success is your skill level (before someone pipes in, that means effective skill level, ie: modified by tinkered devices).

          DEX has no effect.
          WIS has no effect.
          (stat_01) has no effect.

The alignment of the planets MAY have some effect, but that has to do more with your personal belief system than anything in EQ.

And, before it gets asked, no, there is no secondary stat for tailoring skill-up chances like there is for smithing (STR) and fletching (DEX). Devs have mentioned the possibility of adding one at some later date, but it's not something that has been implemented, and, at this point, I wouldn't expect it to be anytime soon.

Hehe, fair enough. To date, the info in the link is still our best knowledge. No stat has any affect on success rate in any trade, afawk.

I would give heed to the statements made by the Development team if they have never been wrong before. But we know there are tons of things in the game that the Dev team says are not there or things they say are there yet we can't find them. And how many times have they ben proven wrong? My point is, just because a developer says its one way is he sure the guys across the room didn't implement it in another way?

Dexterity impact on tradeskilling is a myth that just doesn't want to die. I believed dexterity had an impact about two years ago, but after personal experimentation came to the conclusion that dexterity was irrelevant.

Funny how the myth keeps coming up for air every once in a while. Sorta like Elvis sightings

I disagree with that statement. I have personally known many warrior smiths and ranger fletchers who swear by str and dex does help with skill up, not with success of a combine. As for rangers, those who have mid wis, at around 150 range (even lower int so no effect there) and high dex maxed to 290 plus, had similar skill up in fleching as I did with wis of 300. Comparing the numbers, there is no dispute that dex helps with fletching otherwise you would rarely see rangers with high fletching since their wisdom would make it near impossible to skill up to GM level. Similar story for warriors who smith using their high str and low wis/int.

You have to remember that only two skills take in to account of alternative stats, dex for fletching and str for smithing in addition to wis/int. Other tradeskills only take in to account wis/int. Again, this is only for skill up, it has nothing to do with successful combine of an item.

Yes, dexterity has a proven impact in fletching as stated by Verant. But so far totally negative evidence on tailoring.[/b]
