  • spiderling silks?

Where is the best place to farm these? I tried innothule but they are too spread out. I wanna make leather padding, and hold on to it for my latr excursions in Smithing, but I cant afford to pay a whooping 2pp a piece on silks!

Upper Guk and SolB are some other choices for you. Not sure of your lvl so proceed with caution if that is the case.

      RE: Spiderling Silks

I would recommend Nektulos Forest for spiderling silks, but be very careful of the guards if you're not a Dark Elf, Ogre or Troll. Another great source for spiderling silks that not many people know about is The Feerrott (Oggok), but stay far away from the town if you're not allied with the Ogres.

        Places for spiderlings

Innothule? Didn't know they dropped there. Feerott is by far the best place if you have a tracker. Its still pretty good even if you dont. I've had a little success in Steamfont in the newbie areas, EC can be alright, and NRo is actually pretty decent- right by the EFP zone. Just make sure you kill the PHs to make em spawn faster.

Everfrost (with bears and wolves for padding too), Misty Thicket and Innothule (vendor mining).

You had problems getting spiderling silks in Innothule?

            Seems a bit odd.

Seems like my newb frogs can never attack a spiderling without having half a dozen more join in. You have to stay relatively close to the south end of the zone, but I've never seen them thicker in any zone than they are in Innothule.

Definitely Feerott. Just circle the druid portal point in a ever growing larger circle and you will see tons of those yellow spiders. What's nice is that the even the spiders, not only spiderlings, drop spiderling silk, sometimes in bunches of 4. I can collect a few stacks in an hour or so.

                  Npc vendors.

You get more in passing than you ever get deliberately farming.

My favorite spot for farming spiderling silks was the brownie fort in LFay. First, I would kill the two guards. Then, while I was waiting for them to respawn, I'd run in and tag the three (?four) brownies, the brownie farmer, and the two spiderlings there. I'd run out of the fort, wait for them to catch up, and then just cast an AoE damage once I was clear. That way I left the vendors up for anyone who needed to buy enchanter spells.

I usually got +/- 5 brownie meats, some various vendor crap, and about 6 spiderling silks, along with slow steady quiet XP. Of course this is really only a viable option if you are 50+ but you can go all the way to 60 (albiet slowly) in that spot. My mules have more brownie meat and spiderling silk than I know what to do with lol.

                      awesome source for spiderling silks

Actually, what I did made the spiderling silk for leather padding a piece of cake. Two shadeling silks equal 1 shade silk thread. And a shade silk thread + a low quality greyhopper hide = 1 leather padding. Far and away the easiest way to make leather padding. I went and farmed low quality rockhopper hides in Marus Seru. They drop pretty easy off the greyhoppers there. Then, and this was the easy part, I went to Shadeweavers thicket and collected shadeling silks off of the lesser shades there. You wouldn't believe how easy they drop! Check this out, go to the northwest corner of the east half of the zone (by the northmost tunnel entrance) and lesser shades spawn in droves! You should be able to average about 1 silk per shade, and my little 29th level necro pet could mow them down in about 6 hits. They are about as hard as an old world skeleton. I could get 100 silks / hour easy doing this. Had stacks and stacks of leather padding in no time. Not a bad money maker either, as the padding can sell in the bazaar for 20pp each pretty easy.

Just a quick point on Innothule, as I farmed there for a bit a few weeks ago: during night time hours, the jungle spiderlings seem to not re-spawn. As I wasn't patient enough to leave any up on track and sit there following them to see if they de-spawn, I can't say for certain whether or not they do. But I noticed a significant drop-off in the re-spawn rates (virtually nil) of the spiders after dark, offset by a huge increase in the spawns of the undead (decaying skeletons and zombies).

The Jungle Spiderlings are in Feerott, not Innothule. And I've never had a problem getting them to spawn. I went spiderling hunting recently in Innothule, and found out what the problem was in that zone. Its very easy to find spiderlings to kill. Unfortunately, there's so much other stuff on the loot table that spiderling silk is suddenly a rare drop.

Bad Tidings for spiderling silk farming

Latest patches have some how removed all the spiders out of the I. Swamp =(
also with the new "newbie quests in Ogglok" the spiderlings are carrying more things, pristine spider silk, black spider silk, fungus (three different types) and LESS spiderling silks in the time it used to take me to gather up 200 spiderling silks in Ferrot zone around druid rings and the blue stones today in same amount of time was reduced to 120 with 70 black spider silks and 50 pristines, didnt count or keep the fungus. can see the cost of spiderling silks going up at this rate. and any items that use em

I hear it's the same in Feerott. Number of newbie quest items that have taken the place of a lot of the spiderling silks. I expect a lot more trouble in getting a stack now when I need them.
