  • Sonic Wolf Bane Questions

I have checked many posts in these forums, but I just wanted to make sure of a couple of things regarding the very complex Sonic Wolf Bane Weapon Quest. I guess I could have put this in the Quest forum but it does have a Tailoring bend to it.

I assume these two "statements" are true.

(1.) If you "miss" on the combine for toughened sinew lashings, you lose ALL of the 5 items.

(2.) I am a touch foggy on where the quest goes from him, so I apologize upfront. For 1 person to get their sonic bane weapon, they have to take their quested weapon (claws for me), their own sonic wolf bane subquested item (toughened sinew lashings for me), and get one subquested item from each of the other classes (Bard, Shaman, Rogue and Warrior) and combine them. Thus, 2 things (a.) Toughened sinew lashings (and the other 4 class weapons for that matter are droppable. and (b.) For EACH person to get their sonic wolf weapon, every person would need to due their subquest (again, I am defining that as toughened sinew lashings for this discussion) 5 different times.

    Do I have that correct?

Whew, sure sounds like a ton of work since you cannot control a lot on your own. However, that makes the accomplishment that much richer. Plus, I have seen a couple of spots here and on the BST boards to coordinate.

Thanks for any insight on the subject.

When making a Tradeskill Item, the general rule of thumb on failure, is that all items are lost. There are some exceptions of course, like if a tool was used, that is generally returned.

When doing a Quest Container combine, those are generally NO-FAIL combines. But again, there will be exceptions.

For the Toughened Sinew Lashings, it is a standard Recipe Container, so it can fail, and the Trivial is listed above 134.

As for the other quest components, from other Kitty Classes, if you are willing to buy the items from them using Plat (or something else), you don't need to make multiple lashings. You only really need one for yourself. You trade for the other items you need. Whatever deal you can come up with.

Yes, if you fail on the toughened sinew lashing the only thing you get back is the no-drop quested tool. All other parts go to that strange place where all failed combines go. I am 17 for 21 on combines with skill levels in the 120s for all alts so they are not that difficult.

I'm pretty sure the final combine for the weapon is no-fail but have no way of proving it. I have seen more than a dozen kitties do it and have yet to see a failure or a skill-up so I don't believe it actually makes a skill check of any kind. It is made in a special container specifically for the purpose that is consumed in the combine.

One point you need to know is when you go to make the trade or buy the items is that beastlords need a different part from warriors and bards than other classes do. Make sure that they are making the item for a beastlord instead of the other parts.

I made alts to do the quest for myself and have made parts for several other friends on my server but the farming has gotten rediculously slow since the Hollowshade Moor patch and I don't do that anymore. I still make the shaman part if requested but thats only because I can farm it with my main rather than trying to farm 14 rare no-drop components for three level 9 alts on one computer.

I have always felt that they should remove the no-drop tag from the quest items if they really wanted this quest to promote teamwork. There are way more Vah Shir Beastlords than any other class and since the weapon is only made once for each character it leaves beasties out in the cold a lot of the time. By changing the no-drop tags it would help by allowing beastlords to farm their own components but still require the interaction of all Vah Shir classes by making the combines require the class specific tools from their quests.

Hmmm...is there a key quest for this zone??
