  • Just got from 158 to 250 in 4 days, 211 to 250 in 1 day.

It's true... The only problem is, i spent a TON of money doing it. Here's what i did.

I had my tailoring at 158 from just doing it in the past, so i started up late saturday night/sunday morning buying lichenclover and steamfont water etc. and did ribbons until 187, that was easy, i did that all in one night.

from then on, i did Solstice Robes and Arctic Wyvern Hide Masks. i hired lackeys all over the server to make my essence and imbue my emeralds and fish for my cod, i paid a pretty penny getting 1000 at a time of each. 20,000pp for 1000 imbued emeralds, 10kpp for 2000 essence, paid up to 25pp for a silk swatch, there was always hundreds in the bazaar. Also paid a lot of people 50pp per cod, and arctic wyvern hide was plentiful in the bazaar too. I made all the dusts, silks, and velium studs myself, which is what took 4 days. I got a JCM3 enchanter to make most of the chains for the robes. I had to use 3 mules total to hold everything at times, i would always have one mule next to me near the kiln to hold everything for me.

Overall combines? I really wish i kept track...the ratio for 187 to 211 was pretty bad, was like 1 skill up every 35 combines (was doing solstice robes). At about around late 220's i got very lucky, i did 80 AW masks and got 9 skillups from it. I spent all of tuesday preparing about 350 combines of solstice robes, and combined them all yesterday. AW masks were extremely painless, i was fishing and auctioning to buy the hides for a little while in CS and i got a ton of hides for ~30pp each, and i hired a bunch of people to fish the cod for me as well, the cod was the only real hard part. I bought all the bricks/pieces of velium in the bazaar for the studs, that was the only real annoying part.

Not only did i get 250 tailoring, but it brought me into the 1750 club.

If you all have any questions i'd answer them np!

btw overall total of money from 187 to 250 seemed close to about 150k, but i could be wrong.

Also, this was done with either 295 or 298 wisdom, and after 220 average was about 1 in 18 (skillups per combine)

          JCM = Jewelcraft Mastery.

Enchanter-only AA skill, decreases chance of failing on jewelcraft combines. JCM3 is the third and final level of this skill, reduces fails by 50%.

How many robes did you make when you did your batch over 220?

            Congrats on a great achievement

I probably combined a total of near 600 robes, from 187 to 245 (last 5 i did on AW masks). i didn't exactly keep track of successes after 220, but they definitely started succeeding more, which is pretty annoying. It would have been less annoying if the gem studded chains were stackable. But total, i probably succeeded about 80 robes. But I don't really know, i've been selling them since i started making them. Maybe i'll check my bazaar log if my laziness allows me.

                Congrats

Hmmmm... I kept bumping into you in PoK last night at the bank, tailors, you were everywhere. Guess now I know why.

                Congrats on the accomplishment!

by the way I was working on getting from 151 to 158 with Wu's tunic. Had 43 combines and only skilled up once. doh! Did all the silk farming myself (258 silks!). Well... Back to EK.

Congrats on 250 and congrats even more on 1750!

Boggles me to think of people spending 25pp on a silk swatch. For years spider silks were a plat each, and plentiful at that price.

You got a great deal on the imbued emeralds I think. It takes hours to imbue a bag or two of them, and at 20pp each, the profit is under 7pp per emerald. You have to really really want the money or be broke to do that much imbuing for that price, I guess. Would have cost you more on our server, if you could even get anyone to do it at all. The cod definitely seem worth paying 50pp for to me; fishing is hugely time consuming. And you're lucky that people are still buying the robes; the price is terrible and the market is flooded on some servers.

I'll probably do the exact same thing you did, but I need a break from smithing first. It half-killed me, and took me literally twice as many combines as most do to get to 243 in it. (I'll hit 250 just from combining stuff for sale -- enough is enough, for me.) Guess I'd better put aside 150k plat or so. Hopefully smithing will get it for me.

Grats again! Maybe one day I'll join you on the heights up there.

7pp per cast of a 200 mana spell isn't enough? And if the imbuer has KEI I'd say that's more than enough...

Remember, Mendan...these are the same druids that charged 10pp per SoW and same clerics that charged 100pp per rez. 7pp is a pittance.

Well, not when you consider that you can imbue emeralds while mostly afk, doing housework, etc. I don't charge for resses, but I have ressed quite a few people (maybe because I don't charge, heh). I can attest that imbuing emeralds for 7pp profit each is much more profitable time-wise than ressing. Unless the body is at your feet, which doesn't happen often, and when it does, it's after a considerable amount of time responding to "where are you again?" 140 pp for imbuing a stack of emeralds while vacuuming is a much easier way to make plat.

Some of us have more money than others, I guess. I can go camp stuff for 1k an hour or more no problem, or make tradeskill stuff for the same, so imbuing emeralds is something I find more time consuming and far more boring. And doing 1000 of them? I'd sooner slit my wrists.

I would definitely like to see anyone imbue emeralds while doing housekeeping. Especially vacuuming! What, do you carry your laptop on a body harness to wire it to the vacuum cleaner?

Or just drop whatever you're doing, clean off your hands, and come back to your computer desk every 10 minutes over the course of three months to imbue an emerald at a time?
