  • Nerf? 6/12/03

OK, MAYBE it's just bad luck, but I just tried 19 combines on backpacks with a skill of 88 (trivial) and did 9 failures. I know, backpacks are not a big deal but I thought I only had a 5% chance of failure on that with trivial skill.

I'm on stromm and money is very tight! Anyone else having a problem with trivial combines?

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't 6/12/03 in the future? It's either Dec 6th 2003 or June 12th 2003 both of which haven't happend yet. If you're actually in the future, could you please PM me some winning lotto numbers?

I didn't notice anything different than normal when I was doing combines last night 6/8/03 (June 8th, 03).

Assuming you are at trivial (88), your chance of failuing an 88 trivial combine is around around 25%.

I dont think that your at the 5% rate while attempting something trivial to your exact skill. I may be wrong but while making Heady Kiolas (Screw you Wu..and your Armor Too), I would fail on quite a few at 46 (the exact trivial) although once I got into the 70's I would fail very very few. I can almost guarante that you'll fail less with more skill ups

I just did 9 hand made Backpacks last night starting at a skill of 88 and only failed 2 of them. Not broken, just back luck.

I failed a bunch of combines in a row at or near trivial at 84-88 this weekend. It was weird. I tried six greyhopper armor (boots/shoulders)and then 3 handmade backpacks in a row and they all failed. The odds of 9 failures in a row at a 25% chance of failure is pretty low (.0061%, i.e., less than 1% of 1%). So I got freaked out. Later I did succeed in one of 2 backpacks and then on a bunch of greyhopper armors in a row, finally getting myself to 89 on a tunic or legging combine. And if you do tens of thousands of combines, then the chance of one such individually improbable streak in the course of that is pretty high. Nevertheless, it boggled me at the time and I had to tell the guy who wanted one more handmade bag that I was out of supplies and superstitiously would prefer to pass on his offer to buy.

Don't feel bad, while making Acrylia Bonings, with a Smithing Trivial of 47 and my skill of 79 at the time, for my most recent Tailoring skillup run I failed 3 in a row. While it's nothing big, you sorta do feel bad when the RNG isn't giving you your 5%. It's just bad luck...

The filter would forbid me from saying what I said at the time, but when I was 199 tailoring (it was long ago, albeit only 2 points), I failed 5 straight backpacks. I also failed 3 straight brick break down attempts in CC with a smithing skill of 188. Somedays the RNG is with you. Somedays, you act like Nancy Kerrigan...sit on the floor and cry "WHY ME???"
