I started tailoring in the fall of 1999 and finally finished 2 months shy of my 4 year eq anniversary. 
I kept track of the number of skill up attempts per point from 190 till 250. I started at 190 because at the time I thought it took me 100 attempts at 189. I mostly did low end wood elf cultural, acrylia reinforced armor and ceremonial solstice robes with the occasional acrtic wyvern mask and othmir fur cap thrown in when I could inbetween 190-240. After 240, I vowed to never again make another worthless item for a skill up attempt and only did high end wood elf cultural, velious and PoP items from 240-250. It was slow but fun as I was burnt out after pushing hard from 225-240.

Now that I add it up, I guess I got lucky at 19.26 skill up attempts per point. I would have had 255 wis for the majority of the attempts.
