Easiest dye to make (for non evil races) is the clockwork dye. Needs a fish that is fished inside akanon. The rest is all evil. I hate dyes. Please sell me more plant shoots and plains roots to make the dyes I hate so much. If you are not a foraging class, and hate fishing, and have a medium level char/alt, the cursed clover drops pretty fast in overthere from the cacti type mobs. But I hate them too. And their evil squinty eyed cousins in PoStorms. Grrr. Gimme some more agent orange.

Oh, on another note, whatever robe you make, vendors will offer 9pp for them. Personally, I handed out a lot to random strangers, cus I would rather let a player have them.

Thought i'd throw my 2cp in on this since this is where i'm at in my Tailoring.

If you do not want to farm your own dyes you can do what I did.

In Steamfont Mountains are some kobold camps that drop Steamfont Spring Water (good for up to skill 182 ribbons I believe).

I was there checking it out because I am a non-foraging class (cleric) so it was very easy for me to collect.

But the boredom got to me and I hated missing out on some planar XP.

So, I found a level 3 newbie that was VERY willing to collect them for me. Of course, I offered him payment of 200pp per stack. It didn't take to long for him to get me about 2 stacks and now he is working on getting me another 2.

Now i'm thinking about switching to Acrylia to go from 182 to 188 but we'll see.

When you are getting this high in skill, there are 2 paths to go:

          expensive or farm-mode.

Expensive is the ribbons. Once you start doing plat ribbons, you're doing 100pp / combine. The upside is if you are a race that can use the ribbons for robes, you can save them for more attempts later on.

Farm mode is what most people dread. Farming for hides, ore, etc. isn't the most fun (unless you have alt(s) who can exp while they farm it for you).

There aren't a lot of recipes once you get up in the 170 and up range...you just need to look and see which route is best for you.

I was getting distraught, because I would do many subcombines for some wyvern masks but only getting to do a few attempts. My recommendation is to do the subcombines a bit at a time, so they don't wear down on you, and then do a big run of attempts at once.

            Clockwork dye?
I think you've gotten confused between clockwork essence and the dyes - the two gnomish dyes are Steam dye (springwater) and Cauldron dye (prawns).
