I'd say whenever you feel you can afford the fail or you are feeling lucky.

240 + Geerlok gets you the best chance you can have to make one, but many have made them in the low 200s.

Because each attempt costs a significant amount of pp (even if you farm all the gems, the Veluim bars are expensive) if you are broke, then I'd wait until 240 to start attempting them. If you have the cash to throw away on failures, then anything over 200 is fine.

Is Perseverence saying that you cannot use a GM Trophy AND a Geerlok at the same time? Are they like spells that do not stack? I was planning on using my GM Trophy for range slot and my Geerlok in Primary Hand when I wanted to get a better chance at a Success for things like Haversacks and Velius Leathers/Furs.

Multiple mod items do not stack. You will only get 5%.

Welp, I took out some plat, bought the components to make my first attempt at my GM trophy yesterday. Had an Enchanter friend make the mounted gems for me, made the seal and made my combine for the GM Tailoring Trophy. Sure is alot of Plat to spend for 1 attempt...

Made the combine and WOOT!! Success!!

Trophy combine successful at 229 Tailoring and a Geerlok which got me to 240 Skill.

There seems to be two types of combines for trivials above 250, easy and hard. For the trophy, it appears that the success at 250 is 50%. Common legend is that for every skill below 250, you have an extra 1% chance to fail. It doesn't really matter if this is absolutely true or not as it seems to be a reasonable approximation.

This means that if you have a modified skill of <205, you will get the default success of 5%.

              200+Geerlok = 10%
              210+Geerlok = 20%
              220+Geerlok = 31%
              230+Geerlok = 41%
              240+Geerlok = 50%

I started working on my Geerloks (on various alts) when I had skill of 230, but, then, I'm just a poor tailor. My Tinkerer is chomping at the bit, but is having trouble skilling out of the 210s (about 50 combines per skillup).

As I posted in a previous reply on this message, I succeeded in my GM Trophy now I have a question.

My current skill is 229 and with my trophy in my Range slot I will have an effective skill of 240. If I get 2 more skillups with Acrylia Reinforced Gorgets which will put me at 242 with the trophy, although my true skill will only be 231, will the Gorget combines I do after that trying to get additional skillups say that this is now trivial and I will have to remove the trophy or does wearing the trophy affect your true skill in this way? I'd really like to use the additional Wis that the trophy provides for skillups.

No as with the geerloc trivial messages will not happen till your true skill is above the trivial number.
