  • Mediocre tailoring run (205 attempts of robe)

I know some of you out there like this information, so I made a point to save it in my EQ log.

    Druid 255 Wisdom.
Started the Tailoring run with the skill of 180
Spent about 12 hours preparing 615 Sacred Tunare Swatches for 205
    Ended up with 8 robes
    Attempts

181 - 82 - I was so angry after 80 attempts, I camped out for an hour, went back in, attempt 81 gave me a robe and 82 the skillup
    182- 6
    183- 2
    184- 4
    185- 15
    186- 10
    187- 12
    188- 12
    189- 24
    190- 3
Final 35 attempts yeiled 2 robes and no skillups.

Made 12 Gem chains for this, only used up 8 of them, so at least thats a little something towards my next run .. but **** .. ive heard of horror stories of 100+ attempts without a skillup, but I was scarcly 180 .. didnt expect it so early. =\

12 hours and 23,000pp poorer .. it really does take some paitence..

I am not sure what makes this mediocre. If you do not take into account the 35 final attempts, you got a skill up every 17 combines. WOW, I will take that every time. If you do, it is still a skill up every 20 combines (20.5 to be exact). I would have been thrilled to average that. At my current skill of 201, I am averaging 1 skill up per 32 attempts with a 265 Int. I have not had a long run of 82 without a skill up, but each has been a consistant 20+ attempts. I am hoping now that at skill 201, the skills will come much faster. Congrats on the 10 skill-ups though. =D

for what it's worth, i sympathise with lost plat.

but also for what it's worth... tell me again why that's 'mediocre'? aside from the evil first 80, I'd have died and lost xp to have a skillup run like that.

(may want to warn any smithers to not look in this thread. ^_^ They'd die and lose an entire level's worth of xp for a run like that, at that skill.)

      grats on the points, yo.

I say mediocre meaning it was average .. nothing spectacular.

In a sense it was just that, 10 skill ups for 205 attempts. From what I see from most people they say they average 1 skillup every 20 attempts in the 180s.

The rapid skillup I received after the first 80 failures I dont consider special. Rather that was due to me for 82 attempts with nothing to show for it but 3 robes that I will be lucky to sell for 1k a pop.

131 Solstice Robe combines from 194-195.....I nearly cried....but then 3 combines from 195-196! That kinda makes up for some of it right? right? *sigh*

I found personally that my skillup rate from 180 to 188 was approximately 6 attempts per skill or less. I did strictly acrylia studded arms (was able to sell finished arms for 600-650pp). My Int was 280 and I used a Geerlock for all combines. Acrylia requirements were high but I was able to purchase at no more than 35pp per small piece and 100pp per suberp hide.
