  • question about the pelt needed to make the fleeting quiver

    hi !

ranger myself i decided to have a fleetinq quiver made.
to get the HQ lion pelt, i ve been campin the highland lions in the NK zone for a total of maybe 20 hours, and no HQ lion pelt, so i started wonderin :

1/ if i can only make a lesser quiver with non HQ lions pelts, untill i get the one for the fleeting quiver.

2/ r ther any PHs for High Land lions ? lions and lioness don t seem to be PHs.
with 200 in track, i have like 2 of em every 15 minits !
and i am askin em to drop their ultra rare drop ehe...

i hope someone gimme further infos about those 2 questions, thx in advance

High Quality Lion Skins are very rare. It takes patience to get one. The quiver you want is among the finest items in the game for it's purpose. SOE has to make it difficult to get.

The HQ cat pelts can be used to make tailored quivers. The other pelts have their uses but those are the only two that can be made into quivers.

The tailored quiver is a simple recipie. Just a quiver pattern and the pelt. Trivial is 115.

As for your question about PHs: well, people will never completely agree about PHs, because its impossible to prove conclusively, but the consensus seems to be that the other lions in North Karana aren't PHs for the Highland Lion, or at least that they aren't the only PHs. Griffons/Griffennes/Griffawns appear to be mobs to clear in terms of getting Highland Lions to spawn. I'd suggest clearing the giff families as quickly as you can--that always seems to me to spawn more Highlands.

If you have the money, I suggest hunting for HQ lion skins in the bazaar as well. It’s been some time since I looked for one, but the going rate at the time was about 400pp. However, since there are so many pelts in the game, there are a lot of people who sold them like regular pelts. I’ve bought them for 5 and 10pp each and resold them.

If you continue hunting for your own pelt, which I find much more satisfying, and you decide to clear the griffs from North Karana, beware the Silver Griffon. The nasty thing is either a shadow knight or a necromancer. And it’s darn tough. My level 50 druid found out the hard way and had to come running back for his body.

        Good luck.

They are rare - it just takes a lot of time. I also farmed for them a couple hours a day for a week or so without anyluck. Constantly checking the baz for them, no dice. Finally found one for a 800pp, bought it, then failed the combine

Decided it was not worth my time to farm them, but kept an eye out on the Baz. One day, I found 3 for 600pp each and bought them all. Made 1 which I have given away to friend for cost, the other I stuck on my <cough> Rog. The third is waiting for a buyer willing to give me what I think its worth. People are silly, offering 500-1k pp for it.

All I can say to them is, you go farm the pelt and I'll make ya one. Have yet to hear back from the lowball buyers, so I doubt they have found a pelt. But I still see them /auc WTB Fleeting Quiver!

          Best of luck.

I've been all set to buy one for between 1 & 1.5k but lately the only people selling them have been wanting 2.5-3k for them. NO THANKS! Instead, I'm trying to farm the stuff. So, I start hunting lions and after a few days of it I remember that the lions I need are in the Karanas (was in the Commonlands pelt hunting for tailoring so I don't consider it a "waste of time"). Only it didn't kick in till after I started to wonder just HOW rare these things are (some 300 lions down). So, I move to the Karanas and think "Great!, I can hunt spider silks AND the lions at the same time." I spend 3 days hunting, another ~300 lions down and AGAIN no HQ lion skin (but I do get 12 stacks of silks from the Crag spiders and about 6 sacks of eggs from the snakes). I KNOW the first 300 don't really count since I was in the wrong place but it still feels like 600+ lions.

And then I read this thread... slowly the question surfaces in my brain; "Hey…, what's a HIGHLAND lion?" So, I go look it up  and find out that I'm in the wrong zone AGAIN!! <Smacks self on forehead with large blunt object. Repeatedly> Guess what? The skins are even rarer when you are hunting the wrong mobs... ops: At least I got the silks and eggs.

Now I get to start hunting them for real and start on lion #601. I feel like I should have seen the text: You have gotten better at assumptions (228).

spent a lot of days hunting one of these blips with a druid in the backseat - rare is not the word... ultra rare is
(then one day while walking into the zone on a cross country trip, looking down and seeing a highland lion running past... bamm!)
Tell you what, giving that fleeting quiver to my (at the time) lvl 20 rogue was one of the most satisfying moments of a very long EQ life.

Appears that someon had a good day (week?), 7 pelts just hit the market for 1kpp each last night, as of this morning - 6 remained on their mule. Without a doubt, they'll get the price he has written on the iddy biddy price tag.

Any given day you can see 3-5 different people wtb fleeting quiver, these pelts will be gone in no time....

yea i dunno what happened to this drop rate. Last year when they made the unbroke the combine, the pelts dropped quite a bit. I got 6 in one sitting of 7 hours (3 back to back to back) but now, when i went back 2 motnhs ago, they just wouldn't drop at all.

I'd have to agree tho, keep killing the griffs, i was noticing more highlands when I killed those aswell.

Most servers seem to have a very non-negotiable bottom price of 2.5k for a fleeting quiver. At the rate and skill level it takes to make one, I wouldn't argue with that. As a matter of fact, if I luck into a single pelt I won't combine it myself. I'll take it to someone that has at least 242 (with mod) skill so they have the max chance of making it.

Oh, and even though there is a slightly better quiver out there, its still one dam fine peice of work!
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

Here’s another tip if you’re hunting the griffawns to get the lions to spawn, keep the griffon feathers. These, along with foraged tea leaves, are used to make Qeynos Afternoon Tea. So keep them if you plan to pursue brewing, give them to a friend who brews or sell them in the bazaar. It just seems a waste to have them become lost on a vendor somewhere.
