  • Cobalt cod prices

Ended up semi-stranded in CS tonight, fortunately I had my fisherman's companion and a ton of bait on me. Worked my fishing skill for a while and ended up with 30 cobalt cod.

So what's the usual going rate for these suckers? Would be nice to know that I'd been productive with my time besides getting fishing skill ups. :?

On Xev, Bazaar price is between 40 to 60pp a pop.

On Bristlebane, people generally try to sell at 30-40pp each, but I can't remember ever seeing any sold.

The only time I have actually bought them, rather than fish them myself, was when I managed to get 19 Cod Oils for 10pp each. Other than that, they're just not worth buying, it's an easy, safe fishing area aslong as you're not KOS to Othmir. Even if you are KOS to Othmir, just go and kill Ulthorks for a while.

Aye, I see cod and cod oil listed anywhere from 35-65pp each on 7th Hammer...but its always the same people listing them, which makes me wonder if its always the same cod (i.e. are they selling?).

Only time I've actually bought in bazaar was when I found them for 15pp or less (occasionally see the fish or the oil for 10-15 and i'll scoop some up). Otherwise, it's just too easy to go get my own.

As a cleric who can't kite (:P) I trade cod for wyvern hides. Been told I'm getting the worse end of the deal, but I'd rather sit and fish than farm hides any day

As a trial yesterday, I put a stack of Cod Oil up for sale in the bazaar for 30pp each, someone came along and bought the whole stack within an hour.....I guess they just can't be arsed to fish.

I think there’s a slight misconception here. We are looking at this from a trade skill perspective. We’re the kind of people who will blow our bank accounts doing 200 combines of an item we don’t even want for a single skill up. There are a lot of players out there who would see doing that as a version of hell. Most of the friends I know have zero fishing skill. So if they should find themselves in need of fish for some reason I’m sure they would much rather buy it then bore themselves to death breaking fishing poles.

well if you fish - there is a slight side benefit -

I sat fishing for hours and hours in CS - slowly raising skills up and collecting cobalt cod.

The end result was 10 stacks of Cod oil ( went through 600 bait mind you).

My favorite part was that I dropped everything but the cod (be sure to put cod below your normal food or it wil be eaten) and every few minutes an othmir shellfish collector would spot something in the sand and pick it up to inspect it.

yeah it gets quite boring fishing but end result was 200 cobalt cod, 194 fishing skill and a very happy othmir.

On tunare server prices of cobalt cod are generall 50pp low and 75pp high - these people dont even bother to make the cod into oil for you.

But then again this is the same place where Silk Swatches fetch up to 20pp each, and tufts of dire wolf fur grab 50pp ea...

BUt as a side benefit, with 194 fishing skill i was able to successfully make 6 blessed fishing rods in a row - which sold in bazaar for 1200 each.

so fishing may be a pain, but the end result can be very profitable, whether you sell the cod or use it for skillups - at 1k per stack plus -

Well, banged the fish into cod oil and tossed them into the bazaar for 50p each - they went within 24 hours no problem - that paid for my runed shell atleast.

1 in 3 fish were cod xonbink? Lucky fishing - I only did about half that, although at a 160ish fishing skill.

After one of my fishing expeditions (even neato necro gnomie girls need days off), I gave the day's oils to a tailor/druid that had been fishing with me. Druid popped the leftover oils onto a trader, and surprised me greatly a few days later by giving me the profit. Given that this person usually doubles the price of tradeskill stuff while vendor, you could easily get 50p per oil on Sol Ro.

My ratios are roughly 3 fish: 1.5 snapper: 1 cod. Junk is very rare for me at skill 200.

I've fished up a LOT of cod (at 200 fishing) and my ratios are about as Minta reports.
