  • Rockhoppers or Wyverns?

Ok i need the opinion of all you experienced tailors out there. Would it be more time, cost and skill efficient if i camped the components for wyvern hides (i can make the cod oil and studs myself and im a gm fisher) or the components for studded rockhopper armor? I currently have 2 stacks of cod oil and 6 stacks of wyvern hides sitting in my bank waiting to see if i should save them for a higher skill lvl or use them now and it seems the velium ill need is much easier to obtain than the acrylia is. My current tailoring skill is 159.

    Thanks,

Making studded wyvern is expensive, unless you farm the hides/velium and make your own tempers. But making the tempers is very time consuming. Compare that to the tannin for acylia studded which is very easy to get and cheap to make. However, acrylia is hard to get and the rockhopper hides can be a nightmare. If the rockhopper cave is perma camped on your server then (I think) the only other place to get superb hides is ML.

I've mostly been working with velious tailoring. The componets are much easier to get and I make my own tempers. So I say, if its only between studded wyvern or acrylia studded, the wyvern is easier in terms of getting all the components.

Then I say, why limit? Do everything you can get your hands on. Theres ribbons, all kinds of velious tailoring, robes....

Both suck, get to the high 180s using LoY ribbons.

Acrylia Reinforced is good however, and my overall impression is that my skillup rates were higher on AR than on any other item. I started AR at 180. And now I am 242 and don't have to make it any more, but I still have 72 AR items in the bank to sell off .

As long as you don't get overexcited and make acrylia reinforced masks, you can make a slight profit on AR (buying all the ingredients in bazaar), and the turnover selling in bazaar isn't bad. I have sold lots and lots of items, I only have 72 left because I was impatient to get on and didn't wait for items to sell.

I could afford to do this because I have so far made 90k profit on LoY robes. And my total tailoring to date, without farming, is about 50k in profit, more like 80k when I have sold off my current stock of product.
It has taken me 13 weeks to get to 242 from 0.

You will also get more successes making acrylia reinforced than you will arctic wyvern, and the reinforced acrylia sells ok in bazaar if you are worried about cost. I just farmed stuff for ages when I had no cash and sold the reinforced in bazaar. Then once I had some cash I would buy a lot of the stuff to speed up my combines.
I would quite often switch between the 2 out of boredom as well.

If you're farming your own supplies, you'll probably end up doing everything. You'll get bored of wyverns and farming velium and move to hoppers. Then you'll go mad collecting acrylia. Your wrists and mind will go numb make celestial essences and doing pre-combines for solstice robes and then when you're back to Velious, you'll get lazy and just buy the dang tempers.

Depending on your level, you may also look at doing black panther or tigeraptor. It's less velium (tho the panther takes yew leaves)...

          Just keep clicking. =)
