  • Skillups - LoY ribbons, Solstice Robes, DE LoY Robes

80 platinum ribbon / steamfont spring water combines
    - 16 skillups ( 159-175 ) (though no skillups in last 19 attempts)
    - low failure rate

    56 solstice robes
    - 5 skillups ( 175-180 )
    - 55 failures

    98 robes of the cyclone
    - 8 skillups ( 180-188 )
    - 15 failures

So, if you can find a whole bunch of the brewing and research components you need, LoY robes are real good. It took me about 3 weeks to gather the supplies needed for those 98 combines. The rune of cyclone is fairly common, it just takes a LOT of vendor farming. The cursed clover of viesar is the major holdup as most people just trash them. I got lucky and found somebody with 3 stacks of the stuff. But, I have only found 4 ashweeds so far. 4! I guess nobody ever hunts in lavastorm anymore.

Lol, now all I have to do is figure out what to do with 83 low level robes that nobody has heard of.

You used platinum ribbons starting at 159?

Gold ribbons trivial at 162, and 167, and are one-third the price.

Hmm wow. That's a very nice success rate for a non-trivial combine. Do others see a high success rate, especially for the best robes? Haversacks are like that. They fail infrequently even at 225 skill tho it's not triv at 250. This would be great if so. Words of abrogation and rune of tempest are very hard to come by.

In comparision... I have been doing the High Elf Robe of Tears.

        220ish INT
in the last 3 batches of 20 combines, I had 4 then 4 then 4 skillups.

so 60 combines for 11 skillups. Currently at 180 Tailoring.

Collecting the forage is hands down the worst.

Curious. If I was to go into lavastorm and start killin everything in sight. Will I get the item needed for the dye in a reasonable manner?

Would be nice to just go in a keep hitting pet attack.

It looks like Ashweed only drops from the goblib warriors. That's a big three spawns in the whole zone. Even while clearing the entire camp every time it spawns, I still get the stuff faster by foraging.

On the plus side, ashweed can be sold to vendors unlike cursed clovers, so I sometimes find the odd one on a merchant.

On the minus side, it can also be eaten.

Did another 89 Robe of the Cyclone combines, got 7 skillups.

so 1 in 12 it seems. Not bad, especially considering the cost. The only problem is that it takes several weeks to find enough components for that many combines. I almost never see the stuff in the bazaar. Half the time I find somebody selling the clover or a research item, they price it at 100p higher. bleh

DE here also. Not yet above 100 in Tailoring but looking to the future...

How much is the portion of the ribbon that you buy from merchants, ie. platinum ribbon, gold ribbon, etc.

Also, what kind of value would you guys place on the dye components just to skill up on? Like the Steamfont water above. What kind of value on dye components that will turn in to robes (ideally), like the clover or ashweed?

I don't remember about the cost of silver ribbons but if I remember correctly the gold ribbons sold for around 35pp and the platinum ribbons for 105pp. Also note that the ribbons are no drop, so don't buy too many in advance.

On the tribunal server, if you are lucky you can find steamfont springwater for around 2-5pp each, honey berries around 10pp, sylvan berries, plain roots, etc sell around 25-50pp each. Some people already sell the dyes for around 35pp.

                  Hope that answers your question

For ribbon combines I farmed my own steamfont spring water. If you are lucky you can find it for cheap on the newbie merchants too. The kobold camps can be easily cleared at a low level, as a level 60+ enchanter was able to stay ahead of the spawns using melee only (I hit for 30 max). The drop rate isn't great, but its better than what I usually get for the cursed clover. I wouldn't pay much for the spring water. The ashweed and cursed clover though, sometimes you see them for 1g, sometimes you see people selling for 20p. It really depends on how much of the research component I currently have for how much I will spend on the dye.

Ashweed also drops off fire imps.

I was lucky enough to find someone selling 3 stacks of plant shoots in the bazaar for 1pp apiece. Have done ribbons up to 174 so far with my halfling druid.

I have been trying to keep track of forages for items and so far have found that steamfont spring water, seahorse roe (you must be underwater for this forage) and cauldron prawns are among the easiest to forage. I am going to start keeping track of my times and forage rates (forage skill of 180 on my druid). So far sylvan berries, maneater buds, and cursed clover seem to be among the forages highest on my "dog" list.

                        Someone asked about ribbon prices?
                        Mine were
                        silver :15p 7g
                        gold :31p 4g
                        plati :104p 9g

I did a lot of Ykesha combines recently.

I skilled up to 170 on ribbons. Finding platinum ribbons expensive, and having roughly 100 words of obligation and abatement, I decided to do the combines.

                          I did:
56 abatement combines (48 success) - resold to vendors for 9pp each
46 obligation combines (43 success) - resold to vendor for 9pp each
                          8 requisition combines (1 success)
                          16 asylum combines (12 success)
                          4 tenancy combines (3 success)
misery is way too expensive atm

Got 9 skill ups for the whole set.

Having a druid bot on a second account, i was foraging on a second machine during raids. Dreadlands and SoNH are fairly safe zones. So for me the hold up is the bazaar supply of words.
