No offense intended CigarSkunk, but if the 160pp is an issue now, don't even bother tailoring. You are facing hours and hours (hundreds) of farming and/or thousands and thousands of plat to grandmaster this skill.

The ribbons are a godsend, which you would appreciate more fully, if you had skilled up on Wu's or Acrylia Studded.

Ribbons are wonderful to skillup on.
I have to farm Minos for Minotaur Blood for Tinkering anyways, so i forage up (and get as drops) the Steamfont Spring Water needed for Gnome ribbons. Easy to brew and once you have that, all you need is the shears and buy ribbons.

Very little sub-combinig and really easy to farm/buy the froages/drops.

If you are worried about blowing 160pp, then you shold reconsider tailoring. Particularly considering that you are going to lose much more than that on the first stack of ribbons you make, even if you are 100% successful.

The point that I'm making is that it was quite the surprise - whether you want to do ornate or FS, it still translates to getting smithing up to around 140 smithing or risk burning a few hundred plat trying to make these things at the mercy of the RNG.
Just find a good smith to make them for you, no big deal, hehe. Is there a law saying you have to do everything yourself?

Shears aren't a bad skillup path if money is no object, hehe. Same thing for ribbons for tailoring. Conveneint recupe, jsut extrodinarily expensive.

I actually did sacred Tunare silk for some skillups hehe, just to avoid the hasles of making galllons of heady kiola. Sure it's moreexpensive but subcombines a lot more convenient.

Trouble is nobody will buy the stuff for the simple reason that any tailor that needs them for making solstice robes can make their own.

Well sure I'll need them eventually, hehe.
