I was fooling around one day and got tailoring to 72 with crystalin mask combines. It was very easy and cheap. I was wondering if any of you have done this recently and found a cheap way of getting the skill up to 120 range. Cheap being 10k or so. Also, what ststs are good to have high when tailoring?

No need to change. Crystalline silk masks will take you to 108, and other crystalline silk garments will take you to 131. The 10K you mention will take you well past 158.

My suggestion would be to do greyhopper hide gear to 95 (only one hide needed to 88 and then 2 hides per combine to 95), then do quivers to 115, then go back to doing crystalline silk to 135, and then /shudder Wu's.
Farming pelts should be incredibly easy for someone of your level and with greyhopper armor and quivers requiring only a patter and 1 or 2 pelts it can be substantially cheaper than crystalline silk.
Once you have trived out Wu's then I would suggest doing ribbons as far as you can since the market for acrylia studded gear seems to have fallen through the floor (cloaks are currently being sold for 400pp at the lowest with most in the 450-500 range)

I'm working on putting together A "guide" for myself on tailoring so I've gathered some information that might be usefull to you. I personally like the idea of taking as small of a step as I can at once since it generally means fewer combines total. Also, considering how much of tailoring is based on farming, it seems easier to get smaller amounds of matterials or a lot of things than a large amount of a few tihngs. At this time, I plan on taking each step on this list, how you do it is up to you but most are rather simple and inexpensive steps (at least if there is an option):
picnic basket: woven mandrake, boning (yield 10) Triv: 76
cured silk armor : Mask pattern, silk swatches, 1 heady kiolas Triv: 82
handmade backpack : backpack pattern, HQ bear skin **or** backpack pattern, HQ hopper hide Triv: 88
greyhopper armor: 1 greyhopper hide plus pattern (except for tunic & pants) Triv: 88
greyhopper armor (boots): 1 greyhopper hide plus boot pattern Triv: 95
reinforced leather armor: high quality wolf/cat/bear pelt, bracer/gorget/mask pattern, 1 steel boning Triv: 108
quiver: quiver pattern, high quality cat pelt Triv: 115
Wu's Fighting Collar: vial of viscous mana, gorget pattern, 4 heady kiolas , 2 silk swatches. Triv: 128
Wu's Fighting Mask: vial of viscous mana, mask pattern, 4 heady kiolas , 1 silk swatch. Triv: 135
Wu's Fighting Cap: vial of viscous mana, cap pattern, 4 heady kiolas , 1 silk swatch. Triv: 142
Wu's Fighting Mantle: vial of viscous mana, mantle pattern, 4 heady kiolas 1 silk swatch. Triv: 144
Wu's Fighting Sleeves: vial of viscous mana, sleeve pattern, 4 heady kiolas , 2 silk swatches. Triv: 151
Wu's Fighting Pantaloons: vial of viscous mana, pantaloon pattern, 4 heady kiolas , 3 silk swatches. Triv: 155
Wu's Fighting Shirt: vial of viscous mana, shirt pattern, 4 heady kiolas , 3 silk swatches. Triv: 158Morani

Smithing: skill increases for smithing are determined by INT, WIS or STR, whichever is higher.
Fletching: skill increases for fletching are determined by INT, WIS or DEX, whichever is higher.
Jewelcrafting: skill increases for jewelcrafting are determined by INT, WIS or DEX, whichever is higher.
While tailoring has been mentioned several times as needing DEX, at last check it was still not implemented. And the FAQ will change too I'm sure.

Morani, one change I would suggest in your progression list is the addition of crystalline armor. If you are able to harvest crystalline silks from Crystal Caverns it’s much easier to make crystalline armor from 116, after quivers trivial, to 131 and then start making Wu’s armor.
This is where I’m stuck at the moment. I don’t want to bother my enchanter friends to make dozens and dozens and dozens of vials of viscous manna, so I’m trying to level a chanter of my own to 16 so I can make it myself and have the Breeze spell to help. If you happen to be a low level enchanter, then perhaps Wu’s would be easier to make then trying to fight spiders in Crystal Caverns. But even then you might want to put off making all those heady kiolas.Pait Spiritwalker

Calabar, Thank you. I'd COMPLETELY forgotten about the silks because I've only somewhat recently bought the expansion that lets me go there. I still haven't ventured into CC yet put I plan to.Morani
