    ah ok, that involvement suxxors

No worry about me trying this, har har. So, once again, it seems the failure is sort of with SOE in not making player made viable alternatives.
The dire fur alone is just nuts, its only foraged?

    5250 plat sounds very reasonable

Most people will pay a premium just to not have to bother going to Sol A and having to find the gnomes. Used to be you used to need faction with them too, so you had to kill a while if you were the wrong race. Dunno if it's like that anymore. Sol A is a maze, too, where people like me get hellishly lost. I can gate out and start over(ugh). Many people can't(yikes!).

Even if the halfling bags didn't improve on the tink bags at all, they still would be well worth a premium to most people.

And as to whether it's worth it to tailor -- it's nice to have at least one solid skill you can do for relatively significant income in a relatively short period of time, or to make something very worthwhile for yourself, your friends, or guildmembers to use/wear in a relatively short period of time. Baking and brewing -- kinda hard because the money is so small. JC and fletching and pottery -- not a big demand for most products, and most products there is a big demand for require drops that are a pain to get, and often the result doesn't sell all that quickly.

Smithing and tailoring -- sometimes you can make some really nice stuff relatively quickly, to either give you some very solid cash or to get a very real upgrade in your equipment or do the same for friends/guildies. It's a not insignificant ability that people really appreciate if they're you're friends or appreciate with cash if they're not. Of course, these are the hard skills, but that's appropriate in its way.

And...if you get tailoring out of the way, you could put an eye on that Aid Gimel earring quest....

I'll give my opinion on the original question.

I believe it's worthwhile becoming a new tailor on an established server. In practice, old established tailors mostly fade away. I've been a GM tailor on Povar for over six months. My Bazaar competitors for selling tailored goods continuously change. Maybe the older ones get tired of selling tailored products *shrug*.

Tailoring brings me a steady income stream. Some nights I sell nothing, other nights I sell lots. Last night for example, I sold 11k worth of arctic wyvern, cobalt drake and tigeraptor.
