try EK (at least I think I have the right Karana) its the one that borders highpass. Spiders can drop up to 5 or 6 silk each. Plus you are near a town. Altho they do drop /gulp halfling parts
When you go into East Karana to kill the Spiders for their Silks, if you don't see many Spiders running around, kill the Snakes, Cats, Dogs, and Mucktail Gnolls to get the Spiders to spawn. They are all on the same spawn table.
I question whether the Mucktails are. I kill them all the time with my 20-something characters for exp )well, the chief anyway). They always respawn in 6 minutes, without fail. Now that skeleton that spawns there is very strange to me (he drops your faction with skeleton...I have never seen that faction anywhere else). I dunno what he is a PH for (or vice versa). But, if you are looking for silks, EK is the best place. When others are in the zone hunting, I do not take my wizzie there and AE every mob on the mountain. I take my 22 druid in there, charm a griffawn and kill all the mobs for tailoring supplies. For the record, it is poor practice to AFK when you have a charmed griffawn at level 22. =/

I am not sure if it is on a timing sequence, maybe it is only at night, maybe only during the day, but there ARE Spiders that spawn in the Mucktail locations. Both Carrion Spider and Crag Spider will spawn in the Mucktail locations. Besides, killing the Mucktails gives you HPH Faction, Merchant Faction and Bandit Faction
They spawn near the Mucktails, but not in the Mucktail spawn spots. (The Mucktails will attack virtually anything that walks by, so spiders that spawn there may not last long, however.)
In my experience, it's only the snakes (specifically, the chasm crawlers) that are on the same spawn table as the crag spiders (which are the ones you really want). The cats and dogs appear to be on their own spawn table opposite each other.
what I did in the time I was there was use my monk to pull every snake, lion, spider and reaver I saw and AE them down. that helped keep the spider spawns going and got me some trade fodder. I was tradeing halfling parts and HQ cat as well. only thing ya gotta watch out for is stuff tends to get tired after a trip up and down the hill and stuff will start falling off. Its pretty funny when you see sombody running with 10 spiders 15 or 20 chasm crawlers and 6 or 8 or 10 lions along for the exercise run.
If you just want silk, I'd say UGuk. 10 spiders on 6 minutes (or was it 8 ...) timer. With my 33 rogue, I do them non stop. With my wizard, I just pull them all and AE. If you have time to spare, there are a few more up on the pillers nearby.
I would vote for Upper Guk. Depending on starting race/class the frogs will not be KOS to you and you can get to the spiders easily. Good experience at lower levels.
If you can track and/ or have sow or other speed enhancements and don't mind running around EK has by far the better drop rate on silks per spider. Some of the crags have dropped 8 silks at a time rare but does happen.
If you can't track and/or don't want a lot of running around the UGuk the drop rate per spider is lower but you are dealing with static spawns. Also note you should have good faction there or you may have trouble with frog adds.
So it all depends on what your preferences are.
