Ok i know how expensive tailoring is and how long it takes to skill sometimes(that doesnt bother me that much), but im wondering ive been stuck at acrylia studded for a long time, for profit, and have made a lot of money, but i cant seem to gain any skill really(averaging 100+ combines per lvl), i have about 200 acrylia reinforced armor combines(not going to do for profit) waiting to be combined when i get 188, but im wondering if it would be smarter to just say hell with waiting till 188 skill, and going strait to acrylia reinforced, (being faster skill ups maybe?), or sticking with the acrylia studded to 188?

That's very unusual by my experience. What is your wis/int? With maxxed wis I get a skillup, sometimes two, for every 5-10 combines. It varies of course, but I'm still skilling up on acrylia studded, and that's been my experience. But if your wis/int is much lower, your skillups would be less.

What is your current skill as well? I know it's probably just bad luck as well, but I have hear people say they have had to do alot of combines between 180 and 185, as well as 190 to 200 and 210 to 220. I myself have not had the bad luck that others talk about.

While I did wait until I was Skill 131 and trivialed Crystalline Silk before moving to Wu's and I went to 158 with Wu's before moving onto Acrylia Studded, I did not do the same thing for Acrylia Reinforced. I farm everything and since you get both Superbs and Flawless at the same time I started doing Acrylia Reinforced at about skill 173. This increased my Skillup rate quite a bit because I decided not to wait and zipped through Acrylia Studded alot faster. No, I did not get more skillups doing Acrylia Reinforced over Acrylia Studded, but I had more items to make skillup attempts which gave me skillups sooner than if I had waited until I trivialed Acrylia Studded.

Guess I've been lucky so far as well.... I've not had a Wis of 255 yet to do a skillup run and at times my Wis has only been 205 doing Acrylia Studded or Acrylia Reinforced, but I'm averaging about 16 Acrylia attempts per skillup and my highest number of combines for a skillup has only been just over 50.

I am not sure what your current skill is, but if you are close to the 188, I would suggest going ahead with the reinforced. After 180, skillups have slowed down tremendously for me. I have done hundreds of combines and am only in the low 190s. I have done Solstice Robes, Othmirr, Reinforced and Studded Acrylia as well as Erudite cultural robes, but very few and a handful of Artic Wyvern armor. I have had the *best* skillup rate on the Othmir armor. Sometimes druids QK them and let you have the furs at a low price. Sometimes they want 100-200pp each. Depending on your skill level, I would suggest trying some other item if you are low on studded components. Ribbons come to mind. GL in your journeys.

I also found that after 180 my skillups came along very slowly with 252 Wisdom. I think I was averaging about 100 combines or so and it was very frustrating. Its been a while since I made acrylia reinforced armor but I think I was getting pretty good success rate on it at about 180 skill, more than 50%. I would start on the reinforced if your skill is close to 180, thats my personal opinion.
I skilled up from about 210 to 250 on arctic wyverns.

I am on my 82nd combine at lvl 190 trying to hit 191. What a pain..I am doing the Flawless Hide route but then decided to try the Erudite cultural out but stupid me didnt realize how much the platium threads cost. I have 75 swatches all set up ready to combine but went broke fast once i seen the cost of the threads..works out to be ruffly 600+ per combine and thats a lot of cake.

Back to farming acrylia and flawless hides.

Try the silver thread combines. Robe of the inverse trivials somewhere over 212 (exact trivial hasn't been found yet.). I don't think rune of the inverse is all that hard to find (I could be wrong).

Hehe, wish I could get ahold of some of those no-drop patterns, I'd love to do something that easy and cheep.
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

I hate to say it but what you're experiencing seems to be fairly common between 180 and 210ish. Starting at 188 I had horrible hell levels, whereas I never had any before that. I just got to 212 and I had 4 horrible hell levels between 188 and 208. I also know someone else who has had over 120 combines at 188 and still hasn't skilled up. Just keep plugging away and try some different things for a change of pace so you don't go crazy staring at the same thing over and over.

I just broke a streak of 169 combines at 203. Then got 2 in a row. It does suck.
