Wu's skill ups and looms

Hey all. I recently acquired a good amount of silk swatches, so decided to start on wu's at 116 skill. I made it from 116 to 151 with an average of around 1 skill up every 4-5 combines. If I recall correctly, I was getting a skill up every 6 or 7 combines between ~145 and 151. Once I hit 151 I was forced to move to a loom due to lack of a deluxe sewing kit, and I had 0 skill ups in 35 combines. As a trade skiller, streaks with no skill ups aren't new to me, but I found it very odd to have a run like this at a relatively low skill. I was just wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with getting skill ups using a loom? I'm guessing it was just bad luck, but any feedback would be most appreciated.

Whether useing a loom or kit, there should not be a dirrent sucess rate. I have not found there to be any at least.

I went to 158 a few weeks ago on Wu's. After making enough heady kiolas to service my 80 mana (what is that 4x80=320) /daze

Anyways, the Loom was not kind either. Took a stack of 20 to get my last few points.

Sounds to me like you were very unlucky

On a side note, I am now at 170 via 20 gold ribbons/7 platinum ribbons and ~35 robe combines (Robe of Tears)

Seem to get about 3 imps/18 attempts on the robes so far. Hoping this number holds out till I hit 200 and decide if I want to go over 200 in Tailoring.

I was generally having about the same rate you mention through the 140's and 150's in tailoring (every 3-5 combines), but I did have one inexplicable run of 70 without a skillup. After which it went back to every 3-5 combines until I trivialed Wu's a few points later. I'm an enchanter, so not as painful as it could have been, but still weird.

You just had suspiciously timed bad luck.

from 145 to 158 tailoring skill in under 75 combines. I'd guesstimate closer to 65. Wasn't keeping count. This was 2 nights ago.

Thanks for the responses. I did some asking around, found a deluxe sewing kit, and had another go at it. 30 attempts, 7 skill ups, and I am now done with Wu's. I might try messing around with some alts to see if I notice a difference between looms and kits, but for now I'll just assume it was bad luck and move on.
