I heard yesterday that there is an NPC in Gukta that will take your skins and improve their quality. Any truth to this?

The description of this quest in Allakhazam is partly truthful and partly incorrect.
If you give him 3 LQ pelts (cat, bear, or wolf only) he will give you 1 MQ pelt, and if you give him 3 MQ pelts (cat, bear or wolf only) he will give you 1 HQ pelt. You must give him 3 like types of pelts -- 3 cat pelts OR 3 wolf pelts OR 3 bear pelts, not 2 bear pelts and 1 wolf pelt, etc.
Does not work with rockhopper pelts.
You also CANNOT give him 3 ruined pelts and have him give you one LQ (sorry).

OK, so this guy IS still doing the trade ups. Good to know. I read a LOT of stuff early on about him not giving back anything under various conditions. I know that he doesn't take RUINED pelts, Rockhopper anything, or any form of skin. Are there any other conditions that this will not work with that we KNOW of? (I.E. Minimum factions, tadeskill levels, etc.)Morani

I'm pretty sure people have posted about doing this with dubious faction. Presumably you'd have trouble doing it if you were KoS.
Most of the people who posted about this not working early on actually attempted this before LoY went live; Gukta was live for a couple weeks before LoY, but many of the quests therein did not work correctly until LoY was live.Velurian

Brute Hides?
Anyone given him Brute hides, to see if he'll give you HQ brute hides in return? HQ Brute hides go for 75-100pp, the regular ones go for 1-10pp and are in abundance..... would be nice to know if you can, I'll try tonight unless someone says otherwise.Sunburnt Dmize - 80 Druid - D-Ro
